After several abstract paintings, I decided to return to wildlife for a while. I wasn't sure what to paint though. So I turned to my sketchbook for inspiration. I figured this would be a good time to draw from the pages of sketches that I did in August and September.
I flipped through pages of sharks, porcupines, sheep, etc. Ultimately, I decided on a puffin. Of all the sketches I saw, the puffin was the one that jumped out at me as the one to paint. I don't exactly have a reason for this. It was just the one I chose.
I will probably go back to my other sketches over time, if I am looking for something to paint. The majority of the sketches in that book would translate well to paintings. It is good to have so many ideas in my book. I can go through it when I am at a loss for ideas, and I nearly always will be able to find something that I would like to put on canvas or watercolor.
It is so hard to make the time in a busy day to sketch. But it is totally worth it for all the benefits that it provides.
