Can Removing An Original Acrylic Painting From Canvas, To Roll Up For Shipping To A Customer, Damage The Painting?

I had a customer purchase on of my acrylic paintings. She asked me if it could be rolled up into a tube to surprise her husband. I have never done this before, any advice?

I would think that there was no harm in taking it off, the problem would be putting it back on.

yes, It can be done but as Russell said it might not as easy to restretch it your buyer might need to get the framer to do it.

I'd tell her that she can take it to a framer to have it removed, but that you can't be responsible for any damage.

or make a print of this painting and rolled it in a tube then give him the original.later.

It depends on the acrylic paints, and their quality, if the paint is applied on thick on the canvas it can crack when it is rolled up.

I agree with Mark.
You take a risk...

Very risky. Also, a framer would charge a pretty penny to re stretch it.
