Japanese Whispers In Respect Of Lowry
I hail from rural Sendai and then moved to the neon lights of Tokyo in Japan. However, despite the richness of rinpa, ukiyo-e and other Japanese art movements, I can still feel the pull of L.S. Lowry, Utrillo, Gauguin, Sisley and other European artists. At the same time, I adore Japanese artists like Yuzo Saeki. Therefore, I enjoy fusions and how thought patterns can impinge on art - along with individual creativity. Given this reality, Lowry provides a unique style that relates to natural industrial themes (he painted other styles also) based on passion and individuality. Yes, a far cry from Hoitsu, but equally beautiful....!
