Sigh, Scam City

Seems to be the season of the scam, dealt with the nearly identical one twice so far this week. "My wife loves your work, need it for a surprise gift, away somewhere send me a list of work that fits into my budget 3-5 thousand or whatever." Never goes past this with me since I just direct them to my gallery and explain I am not allowed to sell directly to them. From what I hear they then send a phony check for more than the agreed on price, and then say they made a mistake and over payed. They then ask for the difference. The artist sends the money prior to realizing it was all phony in the first place. Anyway just be careful out there!
