Best Online Storage For Art?

Hi, gang. I'm considering storing some of my art files online, in case my computer or HP Personal Media Drive fails. Can anyone suggest the best online storage service? Thanks!

Here is one thread with suggestions: There are probably many more, http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=1121216
Flickr is a good option, They give you 1 TB of free storage,,,You can make the photos public or private,,,It is user friendly too, If you choose flickr make sure to download the flickr uploader which will do a great job to expedite the process, It is really neat, I export my tiffs to the desktop as jpegs for upload to faa. I have a Flickr folder on my desktop and drag the jpegs to that folder and the flickr uploader automatically will upload the images, It will not upload duplicates ,,,(The Flickr uploader will not upload raw Tiff files) ,,,

The price for external hard drives keep dropping. You can get a Seagate Backup Plus 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive with 200GB of Cloud Storage & Mobile Device Backup for 114.99. I think thats half the price I paid for my last 3TB drive 2 years ago. And they have gotten small enough now that this one could fit in a large pants pocket!

Amazon Cloud Drive is $60 per year with unlimited storage. That seems to be the best deal going for online storage.

Some of us are using Backblaze.

other than the fact that you can access your cloud files anywhere (which I never would have the need to do), what benefit is cloud storage over your own storage. Your own storage is cheaper, more private and much safer.

Backblaze.

Newwwman (!), your own storage can be wiped out by flood, fire, or meteor storm.

Cloud storage is a nice option to backup your backup . . . unless that cloud server is located next door to you.

LOL - rule one..never keep your backup in the same location as your files

Thanks for the advice, gang. I went to the HP site and after talking to a sales rep, bought this: http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/accessories-88342--1/buffalo-ministation-hd-pcf10u3bb-1-tb-25-external-hard-drive

It's only $89.00, and HP is offering free shipping right now. I thought I'd pass this info along to anyone who also needs an external hard drive. :)

I use "Flickr" to store my photographs FOR FREE and full resolution. I believe I can store some 250,000 at least. It's easy to upload and download.
Flickr (pronounced "flicker") is an image hosting and video hosting website, and web services suite that was created by Ludicorp in 2004 and acquired by Yahoo in 2005. In addition to being a popular website for users to share and embed personal photographs, and effectively an online community, the service is widely used by photo researchers and by bloggers to host images that they embed in blogs and social media.

Newwman, nothing is safe. Which is why it's always recommended to have more than 2 copies at all times. And yes one copy offsite. Yes hard drives are cheap and it's best to manage your own. But the cost of online storage is very attractive now. What hard drive can you buy that offers unlimited storage? So long as you aren't storing personal financial and health care data, I can't see why anyone wouldn't use it as another place for image storage.

to be honest...I only see the cloud solutions as a way to have access to data away when away from the home base... since I make it a purpose not to ever need any data when away from base, I dont have use for it. Heck, I gave up using a cell phone or mobile technology (other than free wi-fi) over five years ago. I make it a point that when I am on the road, I am living life in an unconnected way. Its liberating, especially when I see so many people as slaves to their mobile devices and that they have lost all ability to socialize in a normal way.
