Pinterest Rich Pins

I just joined Pinterest but I'm confused about rich pins. When I hover over some people's photos, there's a global icon and then something saying, learn more at artist-website, etc. Some people also have something below the photo that says "in stock and there's a price listed." Some people just have that global icon and website name when I hover over the photo but they don't have the "in stock and price listed below." Are these just different kinds of rich pins?

Also, I've read all of the instructions on how to get these rich pins. But, seriously, it's way over my level of comprehension. Is there a step by step guide written in very simple steps on how to enable rich pins? Something other than what Pinterest provides?

And, finally, is it that important to have these rich pins if I'm trying to sell my photos? And is it easier for other people to steal/borrow my photos if I don't have the rich pin embedded in my photos?

Lots of questions, I know. But I'm just about ready to throw in the towel with Pinterest and perhaps move on to Twitter. I started Pinterest first, thinking/hoping it was the easiest of the social media platforms out there. What a headache....

Anyway, thank you in advance!

Hope someone knows. Some of mine show up as rich pins, others don't.

Rich pins worked for awhile on my AW and then they abruptly quit. I communicated back and forth with someone at Pinterest about the problem. They indicated to me at the time it was a bug on their side but after the acknowledgement it was on their end, I never got another reply to my messages. The person at Pinterest who had been helping me just stopped responding to my follow-ups asking when it would be fixed.

There's another thread buried in the forum somewhere here where another person tried to get answers for their own AW - they were having the same issue. I don't think they ever got resolution either, but I kind of gave up and walked away on that one. As long as it links to my work, i.e. another pinner doesn't change the link to something else, I can live without the rich pins...

FYI, our AW sites have all the coding. You don't have to worry about that part of what you're reading. It's done. The likelihood that rich pins keep working afterward seems low since I don't see them on any other artists's pins from their AW even the ones I know had them once as I did. That said, you just visit this link:

https://developers.pinterest.com/tools/url-debugger/

Put in an artwork URL from your AW - i.e. http://janedoe.com/featured/..........

And click validate. It should find all the Pinterest code and tell you that you can submit it for further review. After I did that, I got an email within a week that I was approved. It worked a month and stopped. YMMV

I started getting the Rich Pin emails after I switched to the [free] business account at Pinterest. I'm about ready to change back to a regular account.

Thank you, Mark. You've answered a lot of my questions.

Greg, I certainly wouldn't want to be bombarded with e-mails either.

I have a business account on Pinterest and get 2-3 emails per week from Pinterest. I also get a daily email about who has liked and repinned my pins. I don't find it to be too much.
