Rearranging Images Within Galleries

I'm relatively new to the site, and perhaps not the most savvy when it comes to technology….I've noticed that many of you have rearranged your images within a gallery, and I'd like in on your secret.
Please let me know how I go about this. Very much obliged!
Thank you!
Jill

Hi, Jill
I am constantly rearranging images within galleries.
It's quite simple really.
Go to your profile page and underneath each image you will see (edit)
Click on that and a set of numbers will come up.
Simply click which number you want the image to appear as and VOILA! Done.

Jill, If you mean within a gallery you've created, eg Pink Flowers.
I suggest you go to that particular gallery when you are signed in.
Underneath each image you will see: Position and a number in brackets.
0 = seeing an image first.
down to however many images you have in a gallery.

Click onto the word Position and then choose the number from the list.
Once you've changed the Position number (by clicking the down arrow and choosing a number from the list), you will see it re-arrange that image and all the others in their correct order, almost instantaneously! You don't have to do anything else. It's fun watching it happen!

Good luck!
Cheers,

9,38pm Edit:
Well, Jill, I stand corrected!
I've just gone into one of the galleries I created to copy an image code.
I notice that doing this within a gallery is no longer possible. No good! Wonder why that's been changed...
Only change/choose when one is in Images mode.

its a process that will drive you crazy though. since when you add it places stuff at the top anyway. and if you have pages of stuff, well its too confusing. i tend to not do that except in galleries.

Jill, I do it this way -

Go to your Profile Page and click the particular Gallery in which you want to rearrange some images.
Near the top of the page you will see a box - Edit This Gallery. Click that,
You will then see the Position numbers beside the images which you can click and change to the new Position number where you want an image to be located.

I am anal-retentive about my galleries. I have what I consider to be the top 25% of my images or so at the front of each one, and I arrange every single image in every gallery so they flow into the next one by either color, subject matter or perspective. It's not hard to keep up with once it's done, but it took me foreverrrrrrrr the first time around.

I'd still be interested in hearing what peeps think about number of galleries. I asked once but don't think I got an answer (if I did, I can't remember what it was, LOL!) Do ya'll think it's best to limit galleries, or is more with a tighter focus on genre and/or subject matter better?

Susan, it depends on how many images one has. Some have many galleries with about 5 images in each. That drives me crazy! I also arrange images in my galleries as you do, especially the first page of each gallery. I started out with very basic subjects (galleries) and then had to break them down to be more specific as as I have over 1800 images.

Would be cool if we could just do a drag and drop like other sites offer.

Thanks for the response Jessica, good advice. What do you think the minimum number of works in a gallery should be?

I agree Kathleen, but there is a multitude of other things more important for poor Sean to fix. I get stressed just thinking about the workload he takes on himself. Egads!
