Starting A New Group

After my recent discussion thread on categorising my digital art works, I have come to the conclusion that there is no tags that clearly define it. I KNOW what I mean, even though I may be the only one who does. There are people on here who do work in the same vein as I do. It seems that the answer for me is to set up a Group of my own, but here is the big question.... Can a new group be membership by invitation only ? ...or... Can it be image by invitation only ?

There are a few groups who are invitation only. This means you search for artists that you want in the group and invite them. You would then delete any member who join that were not invited. There is also a group or two where the admin requests an email before you join. Finally, there are a few groups where a set limit of memebers are allowed. So, say, you want 100 member then membership is then closed once the group reaches that number .... likewise, if a member leaves than a new member can fill that void. I have not heard of an image only group ... so I guess if you start one we'll see how it works.

Hope this answers your questions. Enjoy your day!

you can't have a private group. self groups are removed, and it would not help you in the slightest because buyers aren't going to go there. forget about labels, buyers don't look at them. i know this because i make photos, and despite that, they call them paintings. but the group won't help you.

There is no tag for painters either ie impressionist v neo impressionist or figurative v neo classical.

It never mattered to me.

But I do label my genre as Digital Construct. No potential buyer has ever bothered to care. It is at best a figleaf.

Peter POD artists who make digital files will most likely never end up in a museum being categorized very carefully.
We have original digital files, not original canvasses. It is troublesome. But very different.

In the future all art will be valued by how many copies the public wants, not by its rarity. This will effect
rare painters from history as well. Masterworks from the 1600s or whenever will have an intrinsic value based
on the number of copies sold. If no one wants a copy.....the value will be zero.......

Mike -- I understand Peter asked about a private group not a vanity group. A vanity group exhibits mostly the admins artwork and that is not allowed, correct.

Thanks Mike, That is exactly right. I want to create a group of people whose work has things in common with mine - like minded people. It is certainly not intended as a vanity group.

I will go ahead and start up a group......Peter
