Questions About Twitter

Here is the place to post your questions about everything concerning twitter. Hopefully you'll get some answers from those who are already successfully using twitter.

I'd like to start with my first question: How do you add images to your tweets when posting them from the image side of FAA. I noticed there must be many ways, because they appear differently.

Have a good time!

This twitter thingy is quite a mystery to me, not only to photography. Not sure yet if I like it or not.

Being logged into FAA you go Behind The Scenes and you find under Marketing "Facebook Applications". Click on it and you also find the Twitter Application where you can connect your account.
Now, each time you upload an image, the systems asks you if you want to publish it on Twitter (all the way down). Put a checkmark for Yes or No.

IŽll be back later to Twitter and will follow you,

here is mine.

@meike_post

IŽll follow everyone back, who follows me.

Hi Meike,

Thank you so much for your quick answer. It's quite helpful, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for; because I want to use the t icon on the image side for posting (the one besides facebook, pinterest and so on).

I know that there is an 'add image' button on twitter, but if you want for example to promote others by tweeting their art using the twitter icon on the image page, is it possible to add an image there?

I'm following you now! Thanks for following me!

Heidi...when an image gets "sent" to twitter...the look is totally different from when you have it go automaticlly from your "edit phot" to when you click the twitter birdie on the image page itself to share. In fact..when you or anyone else clicks the twitter share link on one of your images...the result on twitter is a bunch of words followed by a link...the reslts when it is automaticlly sent through the edit page is the actual inage with words that show up on twitter...I did read of a way that when you click the twtter share from an image page and that pop up window comes up, you can type in some code and make the image show up..ive done it..it works...and it also eliminates the FAA website and twitter address which automtically sends the image to all faa followers....i like this approach better but it has been too much work for me for now...and i dont remember the code....but i found it easy enough on a google search and can again when I am ready to takle that project again..hope this is understandable and helps

The comment box in which one adds your tweet has at its base a clickable "add photo" where you can select an image from a file or desk top on your computer. I've had a Twitter account for several years. Using it mainly for networking. Cheers.

Peter, thats true but cumbersome and ineffective. If you want to add photos to your twitter feed one by one in the form of a tweet you can do that. But when someone sees that photo, twitter does nothing for you as that photo is not clickable and pointed to where someone can buy that photo (or any other photo or product from your collection) from your web site. So if you want to promote the images, you do it through the automated EDIT click box or by sharing an image from your artist website.

Thanks Robert. I didn't know of that. I use Twitter primarily for networking environmental issues not so much my artwork. Although I should.
Cheers.

Thank you so much Robert and Peter for your very useful answers! Seems like I've got some more searches to do, but at least I know that there's no easy way, it's possible and I know where to look for. So thanks a lot again!

Heidi

P.S. @ Mike: in order to connect my faa page to twitter I had to install an facebook fanpage. So I've got one now. :-)

Heidi,

I manually add my images, low rez files from my computer. I simply hit add image when I tweet. I then add my link to the AW page with that image
into the tweet along with some words I hashtag. I do this about once a day. Not much.

FAA's tweet features are not so good. Things get cropped in a worse way. You can not add hashtags if you do it through FAA. I guess that is the big drawback
with automating it through FAA.

I follow very few artists on FB or Twitter. It is important to go well beyond following other artists if you want to effectively market. JMO

Hi David, thank you so much for your answer. I'm still hoping for the easy solution but like it seems now everybody's having some trouble putting together a nice tweet with a picture in it. So I think I 'll have to take my time or hire someone for the promotion thing.

I'm following you now!

Thanks again for your tips

Heidi
