Michael! Welcome aboard! Great work!

You have to advertise your gallery outside FAA. There are 2 million images here. You can't just sit and with to be found.

Here is some reading for you that may help you out. I suggest a pot of very strong full caffeine coffee and tooth picks for your eyes. But well worth the read, imho. Best of luck to you!

Sadly, most of it is simply because you are new. There are an astronomical number of images on this site. It takes patience, and adding more images, and more patience. And lots of promotion from outside the site.

Read some of those links from Floyd. They are valuable.

Hi.

I'm from the UK and it seams here we have different problems to the others on here, there maybe others from other places who has it, In England we seam to have nothing like FAA, print on demand so on, i think if someone wants to buy from here from the UK they order and have the work posted to the UK, very crap really.

I have some friends saying the same things, for getting our work out there and advertising seams to be not that good, no one bothers really.

The only way we seam to get anywhere is by bumping into someone wanting print, i made me biggest sale last year by being out in the middle of nowhere in the countryside, i met a farmer and he wanted some photos doing for his family and for work.

Here it's go out and offer your skills and do personal printing or emailed Jpeg s, or it's put your work in a local tea room.

An odd place for make a living from photography unless it's weddings so on, i will never do that.

I'm in the UK and there is no difference. Especially if you use the fineartengland or pixels address. It is not where you are but how much time you put into advertising you are here, same for everyone.

Abbie.

is there any print on demand in the uk, like on FAA someone buys a print, if someone was to buy art from here where would it be posted from?

I'm not too interested in marketing due to being out of action.

Michael,

A large part of it is the number of photos you put up. You are under 50 images. So when
someone wants to see some of your art you only get a few views.

Katey Jane has 476 photos up, so if someone wants to peruse her images they add a lot more views.

There is no such thing for 99.99% of us of NOT getting out there and working to get sales. Yes some
folks have a picture of the creator's son up and get sales, but everyone else has to work at it.

Views do not translate into sales directly, yes indirectly. More importantly getting a lot of views translates into
understanding where to market in the coming months. Without searching for where to sell and gaining insight you wont sell much if at all
going forward.

You need to be a salesman on here. There is no other good way to do it. In other words you can not only be an artist.

You so right, it's sort of like this i think, you the worker and the sales person in one go, i find the UK different to USA, i don't think there's nothing for people to get a fast buy from this type of site, I've been looking into this for months, it looks if someone wants to buy art they order and have it posted from the USA, that's a right pain.

I'm out of action due to a car crash but it's giving me the time to look to the future, I've got lots of plans for coming years, craft fairs , farming shows home printing which i do now and a few other things I'm looking at.

With the UK how it is i don't think i will get many UK buyers but then again a will never know.

It's best to try and cover different styles of selling on the net, FAA is more art so i know i can put a nice range on, I'm on a stock site but hate it, it's a rip of for sales but i'm looking into more ways with that and only putting on editorial.

My other ways will be through personal, tea rooms, fairs which will be from me own home, there's other ideas i have but all of this is far away due to the crash.

Katey Jane,

Perhaps you have heard of a famous American book written circa 1900? How the Other Half Lives?

Feeling down on your luck? The best way to feel a bit better, which I wish for you, is to know the world is not a bad place.

Even when 30% of the people are not working 70% are working. And the top managers money and all are doing better by the day.
Last year in the US 63% of the people had a job. That left 37% of people out of work. A ratio of 13 out of 20 had a job. This ratio
includes kids, seniors, the unemployed, and disabled. Everyone. Norway was close to 80% so a ratio of 4:5

Tap into the UK's wealthy. They do have the money. They may cry poverty, but no they are not impoverished.

i'm sure its been said already, but you have to market yourself. you can't wait for it to happen. 47 images, not that many, you need more keywords too. you'll also want to sort thing into galleries to make it easier to go through. the work looks good, but there isn't enough of any one theme to keep people there.

Mike Savad;

happy to know you think you have all the answers but you do not. Stop preaching please. Your method may work for you but it is not appropriate for others!

Michael,

You deal with some tough spots. So you need to figure out how to market to that urban chaos.

That is your material. Is that your market? How do you approach that?

Could you focus on illegal grafftie sp? with those artists before such images are painted over?
Would that be a market?

Mike,

It does not matter how many things he has sold. How many you have sold will not work for others. That is the point.
You are a niche artist.

Dave

it doesn't matter if i'm a niche artist or not... all artists are niche artists. you are too. everyone is. unless you only do one single thing, everyone falls into this category.

That is why what might work for me probably will never work for anyone else in the same way.

That is why force feeding other people advice on how one artist gets sales is not worth much to the next artist.

I started doing photography the right way in 2013 but nothing happened until last year, I joined a stock site, dreamstime well i want it renamed to rip of times lol.omg the payouts $00.49, i tried to pull out but i,m still pulling out after 8 months, they are horrible. I,m exclusive with them and they are making it hard for me to leave so i,ve gone to extream measures to leave but still no way. I delete one photo a week so 51 left out of 500 grrrr.

Anyway when i was on there I kept getting messages saying what to shoot, I thought i,m not doing that, then a few started saying about my farming, tractors and combine photos, i took no notice what so ever, its a thing i love shooting so after two months i had sold 51 photos, i was the top farming seller, low and behold i got a reply from one of these people who hated farming photos, he said how do i do them, well well well! Just a few words for him, get out there and learn! I thought you piece of sh-- .

My farming took off and it still does now.

I say if you love doing something do it, take no crap from anyone but on FAA you have to shout loud, its not like stock website, stock sites have companies looking for certain things, faa is miles different, it,s art, everyone on here has something for someone but its getting them to find it.

I,m not sure if Facebook will do me much good unless its a person from outside the uk. i know what i can do here but can,t yet. I am updating and tests keywords and descriptions as i wait for the court case over the crash.

The ideal way is to sell privately, over the net as well, be nice to meet a buyer and have a human chat.

dave i'm not force feeding anyone anything more than anyone else is. market the work - is common sense.

have work people want, is common sense too. have high quality work (varies depending on the work).

want more views - tell people you exist.

the only thing i can do is guide, after than its up to them. and it depends on what they have and who they tell. the results will always vary.

Katey Jane,

I was with a site like Pinterest, but a different one. That site might actually be a good fit for you, but not at all for me.

These sites have some rights as well. You really only want a set number of sites with rights to have something of your work.
Stock sites are very low pay now. So I do not even bother. Never have.

That other site that was not much use to me.....in their terms they needed to terminate my account/contract. They refused politely
twice, so I went into some really nasty emails.
