"right Click" Function Is Not Disabled On Gallery Page Images.

Just thought I would toss this out for discussion:

Why is the "right click" functions for the images on our Gallery pages not disabled, so that no one can "right click" on an image and copy it? With editing software getting better and better, It is my opinion that our work is possibly open to theft. I just checked on of my images and an unwatermarked copy may be downloaded at 500px X 350px, which seems to be large enough that it can be upresed/printed to 5in X 7in or even 8in X 10. No meta data or copyright data downloads. Perhaps FAA would also comment on this question.

There is no item displayed anywhere on this site that is more then 900 pixels on its largest side.

This issue has been discussed to great length and if you take the time to search you'll find the sites official response which basically comes out to "don't sweat it about tiny prints".

google has the image. your cache has the image. right click is disabled in a few place... though maybe that's why the resolution is so low in contests? anyway, it is what it is. you can't do a lot with an image that size, they can do some things but not everything. many sites will have this size image, without the click disabled. once online you have to just go with it.

5000 pixels ??? I have never seen this. The 350 is the maximum for the vertical side on the images/galleries pages. When You have a huge panorama which takes the whole width of the page You have 1000 pixels, but less than the 350 on the small side. On other places from FAA the stored files are in an square of 900 pixels so that the longer side never has more than 900 pixels (like Joshua said). Unwatermarked is Your decision !

Oops. 500px X 350px. There is no option to watermark gallery page images.

The watermark option is valid for all places. All or nothing. You have to check BEFORE the first SUBMIT of an image. It will not work with a later EDIT.

It won't? I didn't know that. Good to know, though I don't currently use them. I don't think right clicking has ever been disabled in galleries, though. Right click disabling only dissuades technically-challenged thieves anyway.
