Throw Pillow Gallery

I see that some people have a Throw Pillow Gallery. How can I create one of those, it is not apparent? Thank you.

I'm not sure why they are doing that. After all on their shop tab they have a special section for cushions (pillows). So it is a waste of time and means more work.

However, just mark things as those products and put them in a gallery.

Here is the one we made for you in your shop tab

i think many are taking the example image and showing they have pillows. which is quite stupid, since it only confuses buyers. yet is see contests and groups that show posting a pillow. its even worse when they do it for shirts or something not on faa. they are basically selling a picture of a pillow that has their picture on it. and considering the money they get for it, that's a lot of work just to confuse people. especially when the pillow shows up right on the page.

Joanne,

Some of us mainly want to sell prints, where the markup truly is. I offer only prints and cards.

Others are more focused on the merchandize.

The main thing is what will your clients want. Mapping that out is the hard part. Go from there when you have that sussed out.

If you only have a few images set up for products, then it can make sense to have a separate gallery for them. But as Abbie said, they are in the shop tab.

Okay, thank you. I thought they could buy still pillows from the Pillow gallery, but it doesn't sound like it. I understand about the prints being better to sell than pillows. But I really enjoy seeing my images on the pillows, so I thought that might be a way to get some traffic? But maybe it wouldn't really attract much attention. Thanks for the perspective.

Many people make art for themselves. It is a bit like setting up a business in downtown Oshkosh. Most businesses
go out of business catering to the owner of the business.

If you were aiming at the designers would you offer them prints or merchandize? Or both?

Joanne, I don't think you understood....you can sell all the products you like but you don't have to make separate galleries for them!

Nobody is saying don't sell as cushions. Dave does seem to be though I don't think he means that

We are saying not to make special galleries fir the products as you already have product categories in the shop.

Use galleries for categorising subjects of artwork instead

Oh, I see, Jessica. Still getting to know this website and how it works! Yes, I do understand that they can still buy pillows.
I am not sure what David means...is it not to create what you are interested in, but to make what other people want to buy? That does go against my grain as a lifelong artist! But I understand that this website is about selling, so we'll see if I can stretch more towards that direction. Thank you!

I am saying coordinate what you are interested in with how people would find interest in what you are selling.

And your art is there, but coordinating that into marketing on a POD and social media brings in different factors.

Listen I have not sold anything here, but I am gearing up to sell.

only make galleries to separate the images. if people only want pillows, they can look for that in the search.

make things you want to make. you won't know what will sell until it does. as it sells, make more of those things. maintain a style. if you make things your not interested in, you'll never make them well. do it your own way despite what others say.... however keep in mind these will go in someone's house, and if you only have one theme or they aren't interesting, they may never sell.

you might sell a number of blue things... that may be the theme you can lean in. but you do want to diversify and create many different kinds of things. otherwise you'll only have one audience.

The margin is so low on the pillows and such that I see no reason to put effort into it. It may be good for Sean but unless we are selling 1000's at a time, it is just a for fun thing.

Abbie,

I am saying push the prints.

Abbie/Sean, once and for all, for me and presumably others:

Will the FAA site continue to offer throw pillows, duvet covers, tote bags, and shower curtains? ( I know only PIxels and our AW sites offer t-shirts.) Or will that change when Pixels becomes the main site?

Abbie Shores

As far as I know, what is here will stay here

As far as I know, what is new will go on pixels, if not household

Thanks, Abbie!
