Excessive Visitor Question

So this is a weird one, but it seems strange to me so I wondered if anyone else had noticed something similar and had a logical explanation. Someone from Beverly Hills CA and New York NY have been viewing my art continuously over and over. And over. I suppose it's possible that it's different people from the same area - they're both big cities - but it has just seemed sort of odd (and, yup, recently, sort of creepy, if it's the same person). Has anyone else had this same situation? I don't want to offend a potential customer, but no one from either of those two cities has purchased anything. Thoughts? Nothing to worry about? Or art stalker? :-) Thanks.

Nothing to worry about Linda. Put "bots" in the discussion search field and all will be clear :-)

Lots of art buyers in Beverly Hills and NYC. I actually sold something to Moscow last week.

Those locations don't really mean much. They are not all bots either. They are just listed server locations. You can actually trace the IP address back to the owner of the server, but that is rarely the user. For example I have traced back a Beverly Hills visit to an AT&T data center in Auburn, VA. It was more likely a visit from someone on a wireless device then a bot. Most of the big data centers are in Auburn now, but that rarely shows as the visit location. And the user could be anywhere if they are connecting on a wireless device. I recently was on the phone with a customer in Louisiana who was at work. When I checked the visits the company's own server was shown as in N.Y. Later when he logged in he was shown as being from Houma, LA., where the company is actually located.
I did a thread on this. the point is not to track back all the IP addresses , but to realize they are not all bots and sales do come out of these visits. If they open an account and log in you will see the location more accurately.

I think really people are getting a bit too hung up on this and throwing the bot word around without an understanding of how the web works or even the role of servers or bots, much less how locations are determined. My NY visitor transformed into a Louisiana visitor decorating the new office building and spent thousands on framed prints. I wish I had visitors like that every day.

Could the Beverly Hill person be someone who buys for TV shows?

Bradford, if just one of the 15,000+ views I've got from Beverly Hills and New York converted to a sale I'd believe they are not mostly bots.

Logically, they don't have to buy from you or me, David, to not be all bots.

I didn't say all, I said mostly. If I've had 20,000+ views from actual people without a single sale then my artwork must really, really suck.

David, it's just that they have no taste.

Ive been getting a lot of attention from Moscow lately.
My Ukraineian friend bought a pack of cards from me recently (lives in my town right now). I figure the Russians are tracking her LOL.
