This historic and popular area for tourists coming by cruise ships to the coastal cities of Alaska, is very colorful in more ways than one. In the early days it was quite commonly known as the Red Light District in this southern part of our 49th and largest state. When the salmon returned to swim upstream and spawn each year, some of the local ladies became successful entrepreneurs and entertained the men who came to catch the fish. Like I said, it is colorful in more ways than one but here is an enhanced black and white view of ... Ketchikan's Creek Street.
Although I have always preferred bright colors, a search of past sales revealed that several of my Black & White images have sold ( 17% of total sales since 2009 have been B&W ). So I am now in the process of converting and adding more Black & White images to my portfolio. I am also mixing my B & W images in between my colorful ones for contrast and to show variety in the event potential customers view my " Images " home page, plus they can also be found in a separate B & W gallery. It will be interesting to see if this translates into an increase in B&W or overall sales of my images.
