Pinterest Rich Pins

I cannot seem to find an answer to my issue in the threads. When pinning one of my images from FAA it shows up on Pinterest with a bold title and it shows that it was pinned from Fine Art America. What I gather from other discussions is that those are considered Rich Pins. However, only 2 or 3 of my pins are showing up with a price and 'In Stock" attached to the pin. Why is that not showing up on all of my FAA "rich pins"? Secondly, I am not showing ANY rich pins when I pin from my AW (http://urbanartdistrict.com/). I used Pinterest's validator (https://developers.pinterest.com/tools/rich-pins/validator/) and it said my URL was missing some required information. I am not able to apply for validation without proper URL information. It seems that others have been able to apply for validation with their AW and are now pinning rich pins. Is there a way to fix this? Note: I do not get rich pins with this URL of my AW either (http://18-melissa-smith.artistwebsites.com/index.html).

Hi Melissa,

I think they might be able to validate the rich pin because they're pointing their AW site to their dot com site.

"Add the appropriate Rich Pin meta tags to product, recipe, article, movie, or place pages on your site."...it looks like you need to add some meta tags on your site, but our AW's don't allow this.

Melissa,

Give this URL to Pinterest as an example, and they should accept it:

http://urbanartdistrict.com/oembed/ombed.php?url=http://urbanartdistrict.com/featured/stronger-in-pink-melissa-smith.html

Let me know if that doesn't work.

Sean, can I just copy and that code and then insert my info? I'd like to use it also.

Edit: Although I'd like to use it from my dob com site and the shopping cart widget

Rich pins on our AWs initially worked for me. That was until earlier this year when there was an issue with the AW metadata having $0 as the price on the AW. I sent a note to tech and the metadata issue was quickly fixed but rich pins have never worked for me when pinning from the AW since then. I'm not sure the two events are related, i.e. that the metadata problem was why it stopped but it's the order of how I noticed things.

At any rate, the metadata issue wax fixed and still no rich pins from my AW, so I contacted Pinterest in regards to the problem as the validator says everything is in place and that my AW (under my own domain name) is approved. The last response I got from them was in May and they acknowledged that something on their end was broken and they would work on it.

"Thanks for the URL. Unfortunately this looks like a bug on our end.

I've reported your case to my team so we can look into it further. We'll work hard to figure out what's going on and hope to fix it soon! Thanks for your patience in the meantime."

That was May 29th! And nothing since. Seeing this message reminded me of the problem and I just sent a message back asking if they had an update.

So if your rich pins don't work, just an FYI that the problem may lie with Pinterest (whatever that problem is).

Sean, that link didn't work. All I got from Pinterest was a blank screen with the work "error" at the top. Tried several times.

Let us know if you find anything out, Mark. The other issue I had was with FAA rich pins not showing a price or 'In Stock'. I only have 2 or 3 that show it. The rest do have the bold title, however.

Sean, I tried to validate that link again today and it is no longer showing me an error message, but it is showing that the URL is still missing some required info. Did you have any luck, Sharon?

This image is the only image from my AW that is actively showing up as a rich pin on Pinterest (although the price isn't correct): https://www.pinterest.com/pin/408842472397742498/

However, if I use that link in the validator I still get a message that the URL is missing information.

What is the difference between a 'rich' pin and a regular one ? And I know it doesn't mean the 'rich' one has more money, lol.

Rich Pins add additional information to your Pinterest pins that update automatically. It shows the title and artist of your work along with the price and whether it is in stock. If you changes your price for that piece, a rich pin should update automatically to show your new price. It keeps things current even after your pin is shared over and over. It should look something like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/408842472400466520/

Melissa, I haven't heard anything back from Pinterest.

I just tested yours and yes, oddly, it doesn't validate with the rich pins validator.

Yet, I just tested one of mine:

http://tisdaleart.com/featured/puesta-del-sol-rocky-point-mark-e-tisdale.html

And it shows everything is fine. Yet, I still don't get rich pins. Go figure!

I did have rich pins when the new AW first rolled out, as I said, but not since.

IF someone from Pinterest does get back to me, I'll pass along any info. I get on the issue.

Okay, and I just tested your URL again and now it shows that it's fine. Maybe an issue with the validator. They did say the bug with my rich pins not showing was on their end...

Hmmm...makes my brain hurt. :) If my pin posted above had rich pin info, it could be from an earlier version. That is one of my earliest pieces. Not sure if this has something to do with it, but originally I had an FAA gallery account and earlier this year had tech support switch it over to an artist account. That pin could very well be from the earlier account. Please do keep us posted, Mark, and thank you!

There's definitely something wrong on Pinterest's end. I have had Rich Pins approved for a long time, and they were doing well until one day, they just stopped displaying the Rich Pin info.

I thought I had been approved before, but never saw any changes. I just tried the link again that Sean suggested and it shows I am approved. I tried a link to a different image and that, too, shows approved. So, I guess I wait and see.

So, here's my update. Rich pins from FAA--working great. AW pins are still not showing up as rich pins even though my site is approved. Weird thing, however, is that I can edit my older pins (new pins don't do anything) and when I click save, it changes to a rich pin. The problem is, it doesn't stay that way. I come back to those pins the next day and they are regular pins again. I have a message in to Pinterest...waiting to hear what they say.

I have an update from Pinterest. It appears that some of my AW pages contain rich pin data and others do not. Pinterest updates product pins every 24 hours. If the pins are not staying 'rich pins" from one day to the next, then it is likely because the data embedded in my product pages is changing on FAA's end each day. Why is there a lack of consistency from one piece of art to the next and from one day to the next?
