Hi Gina,

Search the forum for "marketing"...there is a wealth of info. The 3rd post down is by Mike Savad and he offers great advice.

Pretty much what can be said about marketing has been said in previous posts.
It is worth taking the time to read them and apply as much or as little of it that you have the time for

You didn't ask for a critique of your photographs so I am just going to state to save you now please check all your current images before you upload any more. I am seeing a lot of them that will have potential issues if you did by chance have a sale.

Jeffrey where do I ask for the critiquing? I'm not sure what you mean about issues. Please tell me more......

Perhaps Mike will drop in and offer some on your photographs. It appears to me on some of your images the animals are not in focus and one of the Owl photos there seems to be motion blur from hand holding your camera. I must confess I am guilty of not using my tripod when out in nature but I have begun to force myself to at least have my monopod with me. It also appears that on some of them you have enlarged the photographs.

If you want consistent sales, its not as simple as putting your art in front of "people". You have to figure out who your market is. Who is it that will identify with your art enough to pay their hard earned money for some art for the wall that they don't really need.

The answer to that question is different for every artist, and can be different for different things within the artists portfolio. Until you can identify that market for a given image, or a given group of images, any marketing you do will tend to be scattered, and relatively ineffective. The best marketing is targeted marketing, but you have to know your target before you can hit it. Then you can target via social media, face to face marketing, internet ad campaigns, etc.

In my opinion, the watermark present on your images will discourage sales as well, but that can be a touchy issue on here and for some artists.

Not sure why one of you thought I had enlarged a photograph..... I have cropped some of them but never enlarge. Even if I never sell a photo on this site, I love the discussions because I am learning. Thanks everyone!

if your camera has a digital zoom setting, the camera will enlarge the image. if your crop was preset to a certain size or dpi - it will also enlarge. we can tell because the pixels stretch.

Gina
Go to your picture OWL EYEs and click on the eye area until you see the full-resolution preview, this will tell you if your image is sharp and printable, it shows 4288 x 3216 image size, not sure what camera your using but if the native resolution is less than what you see in the preview then somehow your enlarging it.

It seems like your getting a little upset when someone mentions your pictures. I would listen to them. Those who actually buy art tend to look at resolution. And those who don't know much about it may buy it and return it due to a resolution issue. This is why I ask for opinions as well. They will teach you, some are very blunt. just got to stay humble. I have not sold either, I have decent pictures and ones I still need to remove. However I largely do this as a hobby only and I have fun learning. So I dont care if I sale. If your the same then I would listen to them about the pictures and fix what can be fixed, delete those that can't and or make a folder just for them as a share but not sale deal. That's just me though. Good luck

Before you start off site marketing get your images set up right. You will get more out of your marketing if you play to the search engines. To do that you need to have good titles, descriptions and tags using as many keywords as you can find that fit the image. This bird is a Prothonotary Warbler. Even if you know nothing about birds you should be able to research this or simply ask. There is no description. At the very least you should have bird, warbler, wood warbler, prothonotary warbler, songbird. perching, wildlife in the keywords. The title yellow is not going to help this image much. Pictures of Warblers are rare enough so you might just get into a google search for "Prothonotary Warbler." Treat each image like it is your most important one. Learn everything you can about the subject and use that knowledge to market your image.
