Variations On An Image?

I have some typography and vector pieces that I digitized and can easily swap the backgrounds or complete color schemes on. What is the opinion of having multiple versions of a piece like this one (I was thinking this teal, a pink and a purple version)?

Nancy,

Good idea to a point. Too many and it looks cheesy, so be careful with choices.

What Rich said. I wouldn't display more than about three different colourways as prints, but for cards etc, you can now upload the text on its own and let the customer choose whatever background colour they like.

As Jane said, no more than three. Any more is a turn off. That's not official...just my opinion.

it really depends... if that image sells well as it is, create others. but i wouldn't do it right now. or it will cheapen the store. like you couldn't make up your mind and chose everything.

i would choose a font and a layout that was easier to read though.

at most you should have 2 versions. that's it. unless its a super hot seller.

Sometimes I do that with a piece but limit it to only a few...you could add in the description that upon request you can change the color for a customer. I agree with the others that too many of the same is a bore.

You wouldn't see Hallmark displaying row after row of the same card. Too many choices leads to less sales. Make an artistic decision and stick to it.

Thanks all for the input, I was leery of adding others but wanted to check my sanity.

Wow, Jane, thanks for the heads up about cards - I will have to check out the new card options.

Thanks, Mike for the input, but the point of this particular piece is that it is not a font and is actual hand lettering - which I have gotten some requests for, and thus the new additions to my gallery.
