How To Check, If Someone Stealing Your Art!

hey there :)

the easiest way could be if you are a google chrome user. all you have to do is to rightclick on your picture (rightclick on the thumbnail in your images overview) and press on your keybord the "S" button. you will get a google picture reversesearch.

if you are using firefox or other browser, you can go to google.com and click on images,

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

click the little camera and, paste the link to your picture or upload your picture, and you will get a reversesearch.

please post your experience!

cheers, michael

share your experience, and help me to let this discussion stay on top. everyone should know who is using their work.

i never want to know who's using the work. it's not worth the headache of knowing, doing dmca stuff etc. it can eat up your whole day. and its a full time job. i check now and then using tineye or reverse, but in the end its not worth the headache.

Good Grief, Mike Savad.... you are looking a might bit scary.... LOL

I used to keep an eye on my work being stolen but I do not now. I got weary of checking and all the time spent. I just let it go so I can create more. I am careful how I post my artwork on my sites, Google+ and Twitter, etc., making sure watermarked and signed---so I can be found. It is good to know, though, how to find your stuff on the internet, and I do occasionally but I'm not interested doing anything about it.... it would have to be glaring for me to act. Not worth the headache as Mike Savad said.

The free Tineye browser plugin is also useful

hey david :) thank you! i just tested tiny eye, but the result is not as good as the googlesearch, you can check a picture of mine wich got stolen a lot here and compare:

tiny eye: http://www.tineye.com/search/83f93d41a28d7ae1823cff2162971111669c0bb2/?pluginver=chrome-1.1.4
google: http://tinyurl.com/m7vjbos

i think google knows a lot more sites :D

google has more, but tin eye shows you if it was modified. google will only show you pretty much exact images. tin eye is much slower gathering these things up.

On the internet, the concept of "stealing" now seems ridiculous to me.

Not just ridiculous. Impossible. The word doesn't even apply.

Why is it that when I use Tineye it shows 0 images as the result? I'm using ones that I have on flickr, Facebook, my dot com, and here.

i think that the tinyeye database is just way to small, compared to google.

I wouldn't check, I dont really want to know if my art is stolen. Its ridiculous

I used to feel guilty just downloading someone else's picture, and curiously, the more well-known the more guilt I felt. Now I just think that they can do the same to me if they like. It's just an easier way to get straight to a possible inspiration than trying to remember who photographed/painted it

But actually using their work as though I'd had some part in its creation? You'd have to have no understanding of anything to buy a 900px reduction - so if the fraudsters want to advertise me I'm happy to let them waste their time

Sadly some of you forget that there are actually people living from their work. For example a photographer. :)
