You want something but don't know what it is or what it means?

There are no statistics Choco but you can follow the recent sales for a bit and get a real good idea of the best sellers.

When your on Google search, type in the key word phrase like national park landscapes, then scroll down to see which artist or artists work ranks first from FAA. Might not be on the first page, or close. You can do the same with bing, and so on. Everything is ranked by a keyword or keyword phrase.

and google tailors your searches so what is top for you may not be for someone else

Just clear your history before you check and it will be real time as a young else

Abbie,

In other words Google rotates it to keep it fresh.

A long time ago a friend told me of a little science experiment, might be true, might not be.

The scientists put a chicken in a cage with a paddle. Each time the chicken hit the paddle
the chicken got some grain. The chicken was happy.

Then the mad scientists changed things a bit. Each time the paddle was hit by the chicken things
were not the same. One hit and some grain, another hit no grain, in fact no rhyme or reason the
grain would come out at different times, like slot machine winnings.

The chickens beak was bloodied very fast hitting the paddle.

Rotation is good.

with google ranking being customised and rotational - the efforts to climb in ranking seem to be rather futile then

Google doesnt rotate stuff on their front page that shouldn't be on the front page. It has to be relevant to Google search criteria in the first place.
I wouldn't worry about stuff like this, unless your trying to rank your own website.

I'm not worrying Kevin - I'm just curious what others here talk about when they mention google ranking - to me this sounds all a bit mysterious.

So, bloody beaks are a good thing?

In all seriousness, if things rotated every time customers would never find what they had already found and wanted.

Think of this way, there are approximately 985,837,647,875,872,824 people and business all doing SEO. Some of them have millions and millions of dollars to spend on it.

What are your odds?

I always check my Google stats (visitors) and they never match FAA.. LOL..

i think google rank has a site that shows the top 10 sites, it is naturally #1. but individual pages - as a subpage, like we are listed, would be be none. you would have to have an actual webpage to rank. but mostly its traffic and retention based.

Reb, that's in large part because the results you get thru Google analytics is traffic to your AW site, not to FAA, Pixels, or NorthYorkshireWireHairedWeinerdogPrints Dot Com.

JC,

Keep in mind that the guy who told me that was always questionable in everything he said. He was married three times last I heard.
His beak had been bloodied plenty. LOL

There are pros and cons, but not rotating things means people have seen it and can bounce.

There is a search function with lots of parameters so people can find what they want.

Probably the majority of customers can figure that out.

Most people probably start searching on Google and don't enter through the homepage and those that do enter through the homepage have the search right there.

No matter what is on the homepage what are the chances that out of 5 million images or however many there are that one of the 20 or so on the homepage is going to be the one someone wants unless it's some popular thing in the news?

Amazon rotates home page promos.

If you are talking about rotation on the landing page, sure, that would be great BUT it is not the priority this minute with the owner. Getting new products online is. Could FAA hire someone full time to do that and nothing else? Sure, but I doubt it would increase sales enough, (if any at all) to pay for that full time salary.

Now, if you are talking about rotating the search results in general then you can actually cost the site sales. From a customer and business perspective you want a degree of consistency in the search. If a potential customer searches for what they want, finds several choices and decides they will look again later before buying then they come back later and try and replicate that search and find completely different items then sales will be lost. The search does rotate based on the algorithm used but it can be a slow rotation depending on when new items are uploaded or items sell etc etc. That is not likely to change.

FAA work appearing in Google - yes it does, as far as I can see based on most hits with slow rotation. If you check out cityname + drawing in FAA then do the same in Google - some FAA work shows up.

"drawing new york city skyline" - FAA shows second at time of this post, and once you hit the link and go to FAA the first image has 12000 hits, the second 22.

[thats clearing the buffer and doing a search I have not done before]
