Ideas For Art That Will Sell For Those That Have Physical Issues Please?

My hands and arms and body is becoming more and more frail. I am getting sicker and not able to use my hands and arms as much as I use to in creating art..Constant pain. I know there are many on here with the same problem and also my eyes are failing from being diabetic. Some days it is all I can do to just turn the computer on and scroll though pages. I also use dragon software to type and post because of it.

I see so many wonderful types of art on here by those of you that do in fact sell and do well.I was wondering for those of us that have illness and need to use art as a way to escape our illness and keep our minds occupied.. Could you recommend art that is easy to do that could in fact attract someone to buy it? It would be great to have ideas for us so we could produce or attempt to produce what you do or something at least as interesting as you do that would sell.

Any and all ideas are welcome. I greatly appreciate your thoughts. Jean

Dear Jean,

I can empathise with you in regards to the pain in all areas, but I don't have failing eyesight. Physically I live with an auto immune disorder which puts me in pain levels that by what my Dr says are levels that require narcotics, but I refuse them.

Like you, I have searched and searched for comfortable ways to create art and can tell you that there is none.

One thing I do is use a lot of memory foam in my computer chair and when I paint traditionally, I do hours and hours of it to the point of being near collapse, but my husband puts ice all over me for 24-48 hours after. As terrible as it sounds, I cope this way. Ice is certainly my friend, and sometimes alternated with heat, but not often.

All I can do is offer these ideas and wish things were better for you. I'm so sorry for your suffering.

Thank you Georgiana , I appreciate you so much. My condition is rapidly deteriorating my body and actually that is why Im visiting my son. I traveled to the U S to see some specialist and be with family . Also my son has his place set up where it is easy for me to maneuver around and do what I can when I do.. I am on the couch most of the time with a labtop and do my work there ..it is very painful for me to move around much or walk.. We traveled out of the country for a few days recently and although nice to go somewhere for leisure as my son put it, the travel was excruciating also it wasnt all for his business or pleasure it was also to see a specialist there. So I feel for you..I was just grasping for ideas as I would like very much to sell some work and also like to make things that people really want and I know of others that use this site for therapy and for mental health..for socializing and for keeping their minds off their illness. My son was the one that got me here as he knew my mind is constantly on my health issues and depression was setting in badly. It has been very good for me to come here and do art and to upload old work I used to do. Also for the kind people here that have been nice to me such as yourself and tried to help me. Thank you and I do feel for you and my heart is with you .Thank you .Jean

Jean,

I have lost my right eye nearly five years ago. Also my left eye is getting worse and worse and I now have reached only five to eight % ability to see depending on the daily shape. Half of my work is from better days.

BUT:
the other half of my images was photographed with this sh.. eye. Thank You very much to the inventor of autofocus! Nevertheless I have to work on every single image afterwards with a magnifier inches in front of my big monitor. Because I had to quit my job I am here almost daily. I am not selling that big numbers but it works. Without any social media (too difficult to do something more) it is even acceptable.

So I only can tell You: try anything what is possible physically! When the result looks nice people will like it without knowing the circumstances it came to existence.

P.S.

Not to think I am only selling the old images: I just did count my sales. 58.8 % are from photos I made under this bad conditions.

Jean, I hope the specialist will be able to find some answers for your health issues. I can't say what type of art would be less painful or what might sell.

I often use my art to express my feelings, fears, hopes and even to promote awareness for my condition, Gastroparesis which also developed into chronic low potassium and Fibromyalgia. I've lost 130lbs while dealing with this invisible yet life threatening condition and there are days where I'm too week to even hold a pencil so I cherish those days when I can. I often hand draw my work, scan it, then adjust the levels and/or digitally clean up the lines or integrate them into backgrounds and such. Photography is also great on the days when there's enough energy to go out and do a shoot.
I'm wishing everyone here the best and feel free to msg me if you ever need to talk.
