Rosie The Riveter

Mary Doyle Keefe died Tuesday in Connecticut after a brief illness, her daughter said. Keefe posed for the painting 1943 "Rosie the Riveter" at age 19 while working as a telephone operator, the Associated Press reported. She was 92

For decades people have grown up seeing her in magizine ads and on Billboards.

That's one of those things/events that one doesn't think about in the course of a normal day, that the person who posed for that was an actual person, and not something generated from someones imagination. An interesting part of our history has departed. RIP Rosie.

How strange that I just mentioned Rosie the Riveter in a conversation with my wife a few days ago. Mary Doyle Keefe's legacy won't be forgotten.
