Clings Get More Viewers

Looking to reach more people? How about a hundred or more a day? You can do it for only a few bucks. Simply have your website printed on a window cling and display it on the back window of your car. Driving or parked. You will get more viewers.

Are you willing to do it if it means more viewers and more sales?

I think this is a very good suggestion. I am starting to think of other possible places that somene can promote his brand.

I had thought about it but then changed my mind. As it sends up a red flag to say hey look at this car here it might just have some nice equipment inside so let us break into it.

Jeffery-

Take the cling off when you've got equipment inside. Put it back on when you're going to the store or pleasure driving. Always lock doors to activate alarm. Check your personal property insurance cover. Perhaps it may be worth the little work to get more viewers.

If you are a daring person, business cards tucked in car window washer blades at museums and art shows. Reaching people who like art.

Or perhaps reaching more viewers with a easel back sign placed on a restaurant table you are sitting at with your website

Why stop there? Get your car wrapped.

I would love to cover my car with my art and brand, but it is very expensive to do it right.

I rarely go to websites I see on cars and trucks on the road. Aside from the "steal me" implications, I don't want to put my links on a dirty car with three hub caps and a dented rear bumper

i doubt i would get a 100 views. maybe if you added a QR code. but i don't know how many would just go to it, because it was there. i also don't want it there because i've had people stalk me when i was in their neighborhood shooting pictures. and the last thing i need is for them to easily find me.

have you done this? does it work?

even if they tattooed it on their forehead, i wouldn't bother looking it up.

peeling the sticker off every time would be a real chore, and it would look odd if it started looking dog eared. you'd be better off spamming windshields with your card. but thing is, they know who did it. same temptation to just write it in a dirty car.

Seems like it works best for local services such as a wedding photographer. Spell out what you do and have a phone number. Although with expensive photography equipment it does seem to make one a target.

I had one on my car for my fishing related sportswear company - Fishboy. It lead to a few short conversations in the parking lot. I did notice a few people on the highway pointing at it (I had a vanity plate also). If you have a name that stands out people might Google it to see what it is.

You certainly would want your own url and send people there.

I dont think it would hurt anything, but if you have a target market, which you should, that is not doing it. But it might work in a way.

I do know that half of the leads will be from people wanting to know where you had that made, so they could get one.

I might would consider it for when I chase trains such as the upcoming N&W #611 chases. But then most of those folks chasing trains are shooting their own images of said train.

The people who ended up talking to me in the parking lot were old retired guys who liked to fish and tell fishing stories.

My target market were the wives, daughters, girlfriends etc who bought gifts for their fishing obsessed fathers, brothers, husbands. The actually fishermen didn't buy anything except equipment.

Its kind of like the people who want to chat you up when they see you with a fancy camera. They want to talk about the next camera they are considering buying. They aren't your target market.

But for a wedding photographer, parking the SUV out front of the wedding with a big logo on it is great advertising.

T-Shirts.

I have several of my images on T-Shirts with just the image and FASGallery.com. I have people stop me and ask me all the time where did I get that shirt. I tell them they can no buy one (I don't want to sell T-Shirts but they can get the image at FASGallery.com.

I have no way of tracking any hits let alone sales, but it make think that a lot more people will simply go to the website that will not approach a person.

Not sure of the value of the hits. But it has lead to meeting a bunch of really nice people. Especially if you are wearing a shirt with the image of tourist attraction that you are at on the shirt.

Probably selling more shirts for someone then images for myself. But it is fun.

Having a camera in hand explains a lot of strange behaviors.

My sneaky marketing ploy is to pull up my FAA website when I am in best buy, or other big box retail stores that sell computers. Free advertising!

I always think those magnetic signs look cheap.

In my neck of the woods there is a local artist who really lets it all hang out. This guy is all in and the world has no doubts when he drives around.

"I always think those look cheap."

The magnetic signs? I'd never use them for fear of scratching my paint, and also if you tick someone off what's stopping them from snatching the sign right off the vehicle.

I see numerous artists wearing printed T-shirts with their art and website at shows and in stores.Show them some interest and they hand you a business card.

I think this is a good idea. I though about it, but I don't like the dealer stickers on my cars (I remove them as soon as I buy a car), nor bumper stickers. They just look tacky to me. So I backed off from the idea of my website anywhere on my vehicles.

"...I don't like the dealer stickers on my cars (I remove them as soon as I buy a car)..."

Ditto on that, Chuck. The dealership isn't paying us to advertise for them. I use a length of fishing line for getting behind the hard plastic ones and removing them.

Good tip Greg!

I try to disguise my camera as much as possible. Especially in a national parks. Can't stand the equipment jabbers. Bad enough I get people breathing on my neck trying to get the same shot.
...
PODs drove us out of the t-shirt business. Too many people ripping off our designs.

If you are a photographer you are always being targeted for theft. It does not matter where you live. It does not matter if you are carrying equipment or not. Don't make it easy to be a target. Its like making a sign "I have 5,000 dollars of quickly pawnable or tradeable stuff on my person in my car or home. Come get it. There are even people who spot targets and report the info to thieves for money. I have been robbed 4x and have seen others have their car broken into while they took a quick walk. My home was buglarized 2x from the second story in a low crime area. They only took the camera. The second time was a year later and they took the dummy bag i leave out. You cold lose property or your life to desperate drug addicts or other criminals.

"Good tip Greg!"

I had a guy at a dealership body shop tell me that trick.

Edward Fielding

Yikes Bradford. Not a good advertisement for Florida.

To clarify - we would like more viewers of our work. Not viewers of our equipment.
