Pinterest Groups... I Don't Get It.

Hey all,
I'm new to the Pinterest thing. I've been told that I ought to get connected with the fineartamerica group and post a few things to it... However, I can't seem to find "the" fineartamerica group. There seem to be quite a few of them started by different folks. Am I missing something? Is there an official one?

And let's say I want to join the group and pin to it, how does that work? The interface is seems real cryptic. I requested to join a group a few weeks ago, but now I can't remember which one it was, or have any way of knowing if I was accepted or not...

Geez I feel like my mom and Facebook.

Let me know if you can help! Thanks!

Alex

Hm... never-mind. I seem to have sorted it via google. It turns out that Pintrest just makes it pretty darn hard to join group boards!

Specifically, this page cleared it up.

I would like to see FAA come out with some statistics s to what social media actually does refer people back to FAa that actually results in generated sales. My sales typically don't come from Pinterest or Google. Some from Facebook....more from random people contacting me directly through word of mouth.

✿ . ¸.•°*.✿ :: it is a better idea to not join pinterest groups Alex you'll just get lost in their drive to promote their own group "likes" which is so superficial . . . I suggest being independent on pinterest and if you like pinterest as many of us around the world do simply create your own boards on subjects which interest you personally and watch it develop . . pin directly to the source as much as you can and add copyright name information and website links for credit to the photographer / artist / company / in your descriptions to promote the images and style you really love . along with your own of course . . . . . most of the works promoted on my pinterest boards are my original pins/referrals/promotions and are very much like features . many are members of my photography groups here on faa and on other sites (listed on my bio) . . they are a tremendous source of creative inspiration . . . my boards are chock full of some absolutely gorgeous images by many talented photographers whose work I admire who are also in my international social network on many different websites . many of which who have also received a comment and vote or feature in one way or another personally from me to help them with their stats on the activity feeds of the websites as well as being connected on twitter . facebook . and google+ :: ¸.•°*.¸☆ ✿☆¸.•°*.¸ ✿ ✤ •*`*•.¸¸.•*`*•.¸¸✽ ❥ feel free to explore . . . https://www.pinterest.com/sharonmau/

Sharon, thank you so much for this valuable information. I haven't joined pinterest yet, but I will definitely be implementing your ideas when I do :)

I love photography . . . . it is good to hear from you Alex . thank you for the follow . I followed you as well . . as I said . if you are looking for creative inspiration and networking feel free to explore . . . Aloha :: ¸.•°*.¸☆ ✿☆¸.•°*.¸ ✿ ✤ •*`*•.¸¸.•*`*•.¸¸✽ ❥

Beautiful set of boards, Sharon!

I am also a beginner in need of direction so your words of wisdom are much appreciated!

I'm not sure such deep wisdom has ever been contained between sparkly little emoto-graphics like that before!

During my day job, I'm a theologian, and this goes to the heart of it! Thanks for the reminder!

pinterest is a pain to use. i only use it to stay in control over my name and descriptions. otherwise they would take it from any place. but it's a pain to use. i find images on google it goes there. and then it's an endless scroll fest as to where the image actually is.

I keep adding followers. It ranks in the middle of my marketing efforts behind a couple of others like Twitter.

I advertise my Pinterest account on Twitter. I'd say I get about 3 to 10 new followers on Pinterest per day.

It is one way, it is not great, it is better than nothing. But that said so far it has been nothing. I have over 700 followers.
It is early.

pinterest is a place where people would love to have something, but then never buy it. its mostly just for collecting things they like. i have no idea how many new followers i get or don't. but i have plenty of fan boards.
