Doing My Taxes, How Did You Fare In 2014?

I have gathered up all my paperwork and submitted it to my taxman.

To my surprise, I discovered I did about the same on FAA from 2013 to 2014. Overall, a little more because of licensing.

How about you? How did 2013 and 2014 compare?

Did better overall in 2014 as compared to 2013 but that was due to sales from Jan - Sep of the year. Since October 2014, have experienced a 50% drop in sales for that 6-month period, and it is continuing to drop even lower.

Up 160% overall. Surprised my wife as she tallied up all of the various income streams. FAA sales have been strong and continue to grow in 2015. I had a good year licensing with several book cover deals.

More than last year. But like John, my sales went down as of October, tanked is a the better word. (I do know that sale site wide are fine or up but that does not help me esp when I have no income but for here.) Now the tiny tax refund I have coming has been delayed due to health care via the AHCA and the fact they sent out wrong info on our statements for our taxes so the gov has our refunds no matter how small on hold and if it does not come before the end of the month I can not pay my bills for one more month.

And my work comp lawyer I was recommended has had me waiting for over 7 months alone to get into his fav doc (And for the past 2 months will not even return my calls) A settlement would more than likely get me through until I can get my disability hearing. Not happy right now money wise! If not for one buyer a few weeks ago that bought the same art they did May of last year I would not have anything much for the payout for the next 15th after this one. The one coming up is the lowest since the months of no sales when search stopped at 28 pages when that was fixed sale went back up for me. Then came October.

Had more sales this year than last, most of my sales occurred outside of the Christmas season.

Better. Problem is, all between myself and my wife means we will probably have to pay this year. It's a bummer because we were going to treat the house for termites (preventative) and powder post beetles (already infected). That will have to be put on hold. So if the house crumbles down around me, blame the IRS.

A wee bit more - and comparatively - I've a good start to beat last years - although it's already half way through March.

Over all - my income was just about the same - my taxes were up almost $1K

Made about 900 dollars more than 2013. This year is trending up so far. I've already done 1000 dollars more than last year to this point.

The year 2013 was far better than 2014.

My sales increased for the year, but I would hate to have to live on my art sales on FAA only.

I was new in Sept 2014. One sale. My accountant told me what Marlene has been saying, two years of losses and the IRS will
recognize you as a hobbyist. That would mean all the deductions would be voided. I would get a tax bill later on for the deductions.

So I did not claim any expenses, just a small profit.

My expenses are not much, perhaps $1400. That is nothing for a start up. This years expenses will be under $600, perhaps even much lower.
