Google Analytics?

So I was able to get Google Analytics connected and working, but I'm a little curious as to how it collects the data? Only because I've had 3500 views on my profile this week, but I'm not seeing that data in Google Analytics, even though I think everything is working correctly. Does Fine Art America show up in Google Analytics somewhere special?

Google analytics won't show bot views, only what it sees as real people.
Hope that helps.

Bryant - Google Analytics only shows visits to your Artist Website. Most of those 3500 views you're seeing in your FAA stats were probably to your Fine Art America/Pixels profile.

as mentioned, it only works on the artist site, which almost no one goes too unless you advertise that site. that's one of the reasons why that counter is useless for me.

I always direct people to my aw site so google analytics works for me. As was mentioned bots are not counted by analytics( at least not often).
I use it to see if my marketing attempts actually generate clicks to my aw site.

One of the big problems I found with Google analytics was the younger crowd use small devices and the older crowd tend to
use desktops and laptops more. The data is going to get skewed towards the older crowd. This means that the interests of different
groups is skewed as well. Google takes the demographics data and knows who is interested in what, be it arts v sports. After
going carefully through the data what I found was I need to gear my personal website, not the AW, to cell phone use. Of course this
is useful to me, but it is not really targeted sales data.

Dave, That is interesting but when push comes to shove, I would prefer the older crowd because they have more money to spend and tend to appreciate art more.

Excellent point Phyllis. :))

I target my business towards a more mature and affluent demographic. G Analytics has shown me (both my Official homepage and my Artistwebsite) where my views come from, how long they stick around, landing page etc.. FB referrals tend to be younger, Iphones and have a "shallow Hal" mentality. I am able to see G+ sends me serious shoppers, very low bounce rates.

I'm just using this information not to sway the topic towards social media but how useful the Analytics tool is for me. I use G+ more now because I get high rankings in the Google search with appropriate keywords aimed towards those specific buyers.

Phyllis,

I agree with you.

But....

I want to use Twitter for sweeps. If my Twitter account gets certified, and no one knows if ever it will happen,
then I can do what ever I want with it for following massive numbers of people. I can drop all dreams
of being exacting in how I target and just go for raw numbers.

That is why I geared my website to cell phones. The insight that the people with cell phones were not
using my site, I extrapolated that fact, meant I could redesign part of my website.

Older folks, over 35 y/o, are coming online more and more to buy prints. Cellphone and iPad use for
older folks will only grow.

Desktops do not preclude iPads or iPhones.

But the data gets very skewed if you dont have your properties geared to all devices.

Ok the AW site v2 adjust to phone and pad use so it looks good. My own private site mindoverweb.com does also but I have not worked on it in ages so it's not a great ui for that right now.
Younger people buy prints older people originals the middle crowd looking as an investment also originals. According to my google analytics far more people are using mobile devices rather than desktops at all ages.

David L,

The middle crowd age wise buy originals and prints. It is not an either/or. They buy what they admire.

People over 55 begin to settle in, by that I mean they have everything they want in their house.
My mom threatens to throw out anything I bring into your house as a gift. She wants no gifts. No room for them.

Good points everybody, So I'm getting excited about 4500 views in two weeks, however it might not be valid?

I am going to drop a wrench into the gears. Although young people perhaps use more phone's and tablet's for looking for things there is also a large part of the young crowd that build there own desktop computer's. They may still search for thing's on there phone's but spend a lot of time on there desktop computer.

Still learning the lingo....Verified on Twitter, not certified.

A lot of search functions are small device driven, but possibly more work is done on desktops and laptops.

All the targeting talk forgets just getting to larger numbers of people.
