Abstract Art

Abstract art to me is just letting my imagination flow from mind to paper. Entertaining myself is why I do it! Scribbleing for attention is wrong! Scribbling for self entertainment is soo right life!!!

generally its frowned on to make so many different threads about the same thing and to really only do it to advertise yourself is considering spamming. more so, if you don't have good images of your work - they won't print it. and it doesn't look good to customers. unless you wanted to start a conversation, but i see this as a general statement.

Starting multiple threads is usually done when a person is trying to get attention. Blaine, you said that scribbling for attention is wrong, but what about spamming for attention. You may need to to revisit your philosophical life-statement to eliminate this contradiction.

Cheers!

I like that piece! But yeah don't spam the forum or you'll end up being banned.

Try concentrating on a sell-able portfolio before trying to promote it. You need inventory. Then promote it outside of the FAA bubble.

Thanks for your input I will work on better pictures. What do most of the artists on this site use for a camera?

too broad of a question. you need a scanner for your work. i wouldn't use a camera. if you chose a camera, the range is too high to narrow it down. it's like asking - so what car are you driving?

This is a new world to me is there places I can take my pieces to get scanned?

Professional photo stores can do large format flatbed scanning, but it isn't cheap. I'm not talking about your common tech store that sells digital cameras - I'm talking about professional photography labs like B&H in New York City.

Large format flatbed scanners can be purchased by the public, but they are very expensive.

All in all, it sounds like you are bumping up against the prospect of some serious expenses just to get to the point where you can sell prints of your drawings.

On the other hand, you CAN use FAA merely as a platform to sell your originals.

Why would using a camera not work for his pieces?

Do u know if there's any photography labs in Seattle? Thanks

its not that a camera wouldn't work, its that a scanner is much better, it doesn't have noise, it has the right light, it will keep it flat, won't distort it, and he can increase the DPI to make larger images. you can't do that with a camera.

Blaine, I'd say your description better suits an abstract expressionist....

I see. Thanks for putting the reason in a little more understandable language Mike.
