Which Sounds Like More?

Which sounds like more is being donated?

50% of profits
or
25% of proceeds

Thanks for your opinion

Yeah, I was probably reading into my own head too much. Although in my particular case, they are one in the same. Thanks Janine. I realized after I posted that it was probably a silly question.

Tthe other day I paid 85% to the Gecko.

Of course 85% sounds like more than 15%, so the ads leave that out.

25% of proceeds - unless you say "net proceeds" which would exclude costs.

.....

Net proceeds
Amount received from the sale of an asset after deducting all transaction costs.

Profit is usually less than proceeds. Since in your case profit and proceeds are the same... the answer is easy.

If they're not the same...

Once you start taking percentages of these two numbers, if the percentage taken out of profit is greater than the percentage taken out of proceeds...either one could be the right answer. You would need to ask two questions:

(1) What percentage of the total sale price is the profit?
(2) What percentage of the total sale price is the proceeds?

Then do the math.

Funny, David

Thanks, Cheryl,Edward
I am thinking "proceeds" as total income and "profits" what is made after costs. In my case 25% of total income equals the same number as 50% of profits. I was just looking for which sounded better to say...proceeds or profits. In searching for a simple answer I have made the problem way too complicated!

Thanks for your answers everyone.
