My Best Three Images...

To enter a juried art show they ask you submit 3-5 images and a booth shot.

I submit what I think are my best shots but I wonder if I am too close to my work to know for sure?

I would like to ask all you experts here to look through my work (at least the first few pages) and tell me what YOU think I should use in my submissions. I don't need anyone to post the image here, the title is enough for me. I am not meaning this as a image dump for my work, I am looking for opinions.

I appreciate any help you give!

At a quick glance these are the ones that caught my eye the most. Good luck! :)

This will be difficult with so many images. Different people will be partial to different things, including the jurors. With that said, you have some really nice work, and I think the night storm pictures are particularly good.

What kind of show is it, John?

1) Definitely include one of your Flowering Flower pieces!!

2) If you include an abstract photo, make it "Liquid Abstract," as the other appear too soft (on my screen anyway). Liquid Abstract is a beauty.

3) Hibiscus Hummingbird for the third.

And there ya go!

John,

As asked by Patricia, what type of show is this? Do you need to be unique or more in the average that is submitting? What did you submit?

Thanks to everyone that has taken the time here. It is really helpful to get this feedback.

Patricia and Rich,

I was thinking "shows" in general. But there is one near me that gets over 900 entries for 200 spots. I don't know if ANY of my shots will get me into that show but I want to try with my best.

Rich, I will put the ones I use later. I don't want to "steer" people.

Agree heartily with Cody!

Is there a required Theme? That would make a difference....

I'm sorry John I couldn't stop at three! I think these are beautiful images and would appeal to many buyers. Just a suggestion; you may want to consider a themed show, for example, including many of your country images with possibly adding some bird images.

For the local shows I'd use 'Angry Lake Michigan' as one image. It's local, unusual, and good work.

Then I'd go with 'Life Goes On'. A strong artistic voice piece.

Then 'Hibiscus Hummingbird'. Broad appeal.

Thank to everyone and Mary Ellen, you picked the exact three images I normally use!

John, I've found that I have the best luck when I choose images that look like they have something in common...like they belong to the same body of work. In other words, instead of choosing three that show the range of my work, I would choose three that all have the same "feel."

I agree that this is really hard, because as someone said above, you never know what is going to appeal to any particular judge. Doing this with my own images drives me crazy, so I understand how you feel!

Best of luck!
