I Will Ask Again With Subject To Ridicule Or Being Stoned Lol

There is a guy on here with almost 1500 patents from the U S patent office selling them..I have myself over 3000 and also old maps..I wrote the patent office and ask if reproducing and selling their old patents was alright for me to do. They have politely ignored me so far. I see others discussing their thoughts on the same matter of copyright infringement but when I ask I was told by a member that kind of discussion was forbidden here..I think not since it is discussed a lot here.. see i,e "others art" etc..Now if someone would be so kind to keep this discussion going so I can get an answer from someone that possibly knows.. about what you can do or not do..I have read on the U S patent site and other sites where old maps come from that this is a no no.. BUT.. I cannot get an answer from them when ask.. so am I just wrong about what im reading or it is wrong.. ? There are people selling old maps here and also patents and every manner of things..is that legal? can I do this? They are beautiful and would sell easily so..Im asking nicely again.. please someone that knows?

its more of a copyright issue, you can get many at the library of congress. if it's over 70 years old, i think the drawing itself can be used, i don't know how it works with making the device. maps have i think a different rule, but you would have to check into that. if the images are a certain age, or if the govt made it, then its usually ok. according the library of congress, they wait 130 years for anything outside the US to deem them safe to use.

National Geographic sells old map reproductions so it must be ok.

in any case, to be totally sure, a copyright lawyer would be the right person to ask.

National Geographic is NOT you - and I'll presume you have no knowledge whether they have permission. One thing I can tell you about National Geographic - don't try to copy and sell their images - they don't take kindly to 'infringing' on their or their photographers ©.
