Pictures Being Stolen.

I have a friend who is new to photography, but is a computer person. He was able to download one of my pictures, take the watermark off and sent it to me to show me he could do it. I have full resolution marked on all my images which tells me it is "impossible" for anyone to get a full resolution picture. Can anyone explain this to me ??? He did screen-shot one of them and then do it, but then he found a way to download it ! One he cropped the watermark out, the other he did not. I'm pretty concerned about this...

He was able to download the full resolution image from Fine Art America?

He was not able to download the full resolution image from FAA. He was probably able to get the 900 pixels wide version. You don't have to be a computer expert to do that and it can be done for any web site, not just FAA. It's the cost of doing business on line. Keep in mind one important truth:

he who steals your online image was not going to buy it in the first place.

Do a reverse Google image search now and then on the images you think are most likely to get stolen.

I'm curious to know how he downloaded the full resolution image? I know people can do screen shots, especially on their phones. There's not much way around avoiding that, but full resolution would be a big concern.

Did he actually show you that he had a full sized image? I'm guessing your friend just took a screen grab of your picture from a page like this http://fineartamerica.com/featured/lonely-tribute-sharon-johnston.html got rid of the water mark and ended up with a 800 or 900 pixel wide image.
