National Contest

I have people telling me they can not vote. I have posted on all my sites, Is anyone else having problems getting votes. So I'm asking fellow photographers to help me. I have put these 3 photos in the contest. I have a long way to go but I’m hopeful. If you like them please vote for them. I will look and try to return the favor.

I too am having that same issue and am extremely frustrated. I have literally emailed links to HUNDREDS of people in the past 24 hours - I've heard from SO many that they are not able to vote. I've sent an email to tech support asking them to look into this. Hopefully they will do so ASAP and fix the glitch.

It is probably because they have to sign up at FAA to vote. Many will not do that. I'm having lots of trouble getting people to vote. They just do not sign up on sites.

Maybe it's something else, but maybe this is it.

@ Nikolyn I wish it were that because I could have easily fixed it with a second email to all the people I've contacted. Unfortunately It is not that simple. My people were prepared to sign in. They just reached the same screen one would see right AFTER they have voted, which shows the image with the words, "Thank you for your vote!" just above the RED voting button that says, "Cancel Your Vote." Many of my friends when they got to this screen - without signing in and without voting - actually thought they had voted because the message they saw coupled with their inexperience with this site made them believe it was so. Many others realized, when they had not actually done anything, that something was wrong, and emailed me to tell me they couldn't vote. One person even told me they were able to get to OTHER PEOPLE's images to vote, but were prohibited from voting for mine -- which is really maddening! It was almost as if the link took them to the image as if they were me (yes I did vote for my each of my own entries) and saw the screen that I see when I log back in and click on one of my images. In any case, the vote count on my images is not at all reflective of the people I've sent to the site to vote, that wanted to vote and/or thought they did vote.

Patricia, unfortunately the site calculates votes from an IP address. My wife can't vote for me because we are in the same house. I suspect the same is true for some workplaces.

I have had the same issue. My husband was unable to vote, as well as countless others, and yet I see some images have made it really fast. So frustrating.

Thanks John for the information. I will see if my work colleagues are willing to take the extra time to forward the links to their home computers and vote from there. While I do understand the idea of preventing members from scamming the system, this seems a bit extreme as it excludes (in my case) literally hundreds of people from participating in a way that is easy and convenient for them. It is my personal opinion that people will more readily do a favor for someone when it takes minimal effort, and that every obstacle placed in their way will cause many to decide it's too much trouble.

That may be true Patricia but too many people cheat...badly

Yes, unfortunately they do. I totally get the need to prevent cheating. It's just unfortunate that we live in a world where people feel they have to cheat to get ahead. It's frustrating and in this case may make the difference between having a legitimate shot at successfully making the next round of the contest or not. My hope is that the people I am appealing to will be willing to take the extra step. Time will tell.
