Attn For Comcast Mail Users

i know abbie will say she told me so, but i want everyone to know that if you have comcast as your mail client and your using it here, you could be losing a lot of mail. i didn't understand why i would get some mail, but not all of it. why it would come in clumps when i mentioned it. and every now and then in stat counter i would see an email successful as a link. but i got no mail. probably for months if not even longer i have been getting filtered mail.

mail from facebook, Z, and scores of other places. i just changed my email on this site and already got an order from that. and i've been getting my other mail as well.

i think they have a sandbox there and everything goes into that. we sent something internally with an attachment and it took an hour and change to get. i'm still waiting for test mails i sent over. there is something wrong there, i sent a post to their message board as they don't have an email address. and i did turn off spam filtering, and there are no messages if i log in direct.

this happens with AOL - but much worse. if you have that service, just drop it already. i've sent links there, and no one got a thing.

mail.com is the best because you can choose from over 200 FREE email domains and remove the issues from the big guys.

This all has to do with the DMARC policy I think when FAA sends us email through its server .. here is what MailChimp has to say about it http://blog.mailchimp.com/aol-changes-dmarc-policy/

Sean put a fix for the From address but I have a hunch it also has to do with how each email service reads Spam tags encryption data. Though I don't really know.

the from really does make it easier to reply. but yesterday i got very little mail, and today i'm getting it all since i changed it. i have a domain i can have things sent too, i am paying for it, might as well get some use out of it. in general you never know what you don't get. i do wonder why they don't like this site though.

I believe it's because the emails come from different subdomains. Some emails come from web01.fineartamerica.com, others from web05.fineartamera.com and other numbers too. Some email filters look for an exact match between the "from" address and the actual origination and only allow whitelisting for the whole thing rather than just the root domain. So, if you tell your spam filter that web01.fineartamerica.com is fine, then the next one you get is from web02.fineartamerica.com it will see it as spam. This makes sense from a spam filtering POV since most spam comes from hosted domains. This is probably also why the email campaigns feature on this site doesn't get very good results.

Yea, every time I turn around I read something bad about Comcast. It makes me especially happy because Comcast is in the process of assimilating our local Time Warner Cable. Yay ! (rolls eyes sarcastically)

Loree - FYI the FAA email campaign feature is doing a lot better http://pixels.com/showmessages.php?messageid=1990792

i know you have, yet it makes no sense at all why it still comes in surges like it does. wish there was a way to solve this though. why they are picking on this site mostly. they claim speed, but i haven't seen a boost, uploads are the same. but the mail thing is big, now i have to check their forum because if i'm not getting mail right, who knows if they sent something.

Thanks for posting this Mike.

I am also on Comcast. When I noticed today that I was missing some emails that were supposedly sent to me, I sent myself a test email and didn't receive that either. Then a few hours later, I received some email but still not the ones that were supposedly sent (and re-sent to me).

I've also had occasions where I made a sale but never received FAA notification and other times when the sales notification was a day or two after the fact. I've also contacted FAA Tech Support and never heard anything back from them. Felt like I was being ignored but maybe not. Problem is I do get some email notifications from FAA, just not all. Very strange

Yep - Abbie told us - and I changed mine - I got notices regularly - then one day they stopped - I've changed to Yahoo - now I don't have that problem anymore. Not much in the way of internet service here if you don't use comcast and their cable. folks across the street are trying out ATT Uverse - but I don't think they are on the internet much.

I have been having e-mail issues and chucked it up that my computer is in need of an update. I have been using my webmail with hostmaster since people would not get my e-mails. I am not a fan of comcast but we have no real competition around here to get rid of them.

It's not about the Comcast service it is about the Comcast email domain. Change to a different email service that is not a domain with Comcast or AOL ... but you can still use the Comcast internet service connection. Just want to make sure this is clear.

I've relied on the Internet for income from back in the dial-up days and full-time for the last eight years. I still use AOL for some of my original accounts (dating back to the early 1990s) and have had no problems. But anything "serious" now goes to one of my own domains.

I learned a long time ago to NOT use email by the ISPs (Internet Service Providers) such as Comcast or Verizon. In addition to serviceability issues (as are being discussed here) what happens if you move and the new location does not have the same provider. Or in my case - I "fired" Comcast at our city home three years ago and at our beach home last summer. I had never used them for email - I fired them for Internet and Cable TV service.

The largest and most reliable "free" email provider that we have found is GMail. Some people refuse to use them because of monopolistic and marketing policies. But, that aside, they are reliable - and used by many of the Internet Marketers with whom I am familiar. For a few years in the past we used to block communications from HotMail and Yahoo because they were rampant with spammers. While they are still spam-havens they are not as bad as they used to be and we no longer block them.

A note for those serious about having a business - be it art or other. Potential customers do look at your email address (not all of them do, but some do) and your email domain either enhances or detracts from your business credibility.

Thanks, Dan.

Every "little thing" we can do to improve credibility can help increase sales.
