Any way to edit the title and alt tags in the FAA link and have it stick?

What do you mean they aren't sticking? Where are you trying to post them?

If I edit the alt and title tags in the FAA link.

' alt='Art Prints' title='Art Prints' style='border: none;'>

to
' alt='Image of an old rowboat photographed in Stonington Harbor, Deer Isle,Hancock, Maine' title='Old Boat 2 Stonington Maine
' style='border: none;'>

and paste it back into the field on the page, it reverts to the default link when the page reloads.

I don't believe you can change that.

There's no point editing them on the image page. Edit them where you wish to share the links (e.g., on blogs, other websites, here, etc).

You can do that here in threads as well as what Greg said ... has to be less than ten words though.

I already have a folder full of text files with edited versions.

I just figured that if they could be changed on each page it'd be more keywords for google to index.

I doubt google would parse the words of a snippet of code. I think the all powerful knows what that is. I suppose it would be convenient to only have to change the tags once and have it saved, but it's not too difficult to do each time.

Found a good reason to be able to alter the image attributes and have them stick.

While each artist can modify the code for themselves, when other people copy the code into groups or forums, the default title and alt text attributes get posted.
