Quality Greetings Cards

Just received my order for my own Christmas Cards from the UK printer. The service was extremely fast, only took one day!

I have to say they are beautifully printed. They are very glossy, the colors are bright and the blacks are jet black. I put a message inside which was printed and looked fine. My name is on the back although it points to my page on Fine Art America and not my artists website which is a shame as FAA already has their logo and website on the back.

The only thing I was surprised about was they arrived flat. They have a crease mark in them so they can easily be folded but you have to fold them yourself so they are currently under a pile of books to try and flatten them as hand folding is not as good as machine folding! When I have ordered from elsewhere they always arrive folded. I just wondered if this is how they arrive in the US

I ordered some from Leah and they were folded - that was quite a while ago, don't know if it's changed. Probably just how the UK company does things, and partly why they are extra fast.

Gill,

As I recall, the cards that I've ordered through here did come flat, but not sure as it's been awhile. I also just rec'd the cards I ord'd from another company to use as holiday greetings, and they always come flat also, with the machined crease ready to be folded. And they came in a flat envelope, not a box, which might save on shipping.

I've started selling cards but I'm getting them from Another Supplier where they're cheaper, include cellophane envelopes - and arrive folded. I didn't realize that FAA's cards aren't folded and that unfortunately is a deal breaker for me.

However, my last order from Another Supplier all had a slight blue cast and I'm currently going back-and-forth with them by email. It remains to be seen if they'll replace the order.

Jim, I would still order again as the print quality is so good. I would prefer that they were folded and as Heather stated, it's probably different when ordered from the US. I was amazed they came so quickly but then I didn't have to wait for them to put them on a folding machine. They were also packaged between cardboard to stay flat and not in a box.

If I get a satisfactory resolution of the quality issue, I have to stick with Another Supplier. They're a dollar cheaper, a half inch bigger, and the cellophane envelopes are really a necessity for selling from a rack. If I buy from FAA I'd have to raise my price by a dollar, fold them all myself, buy cellophane envelopes and stuff them.

It's a moot point though because the only sales opportunities I have are at holiday sales and I'm already done for the year. Beats me why they're all held so early now.

It is definitely easier to package and ship when they are flat. And easier means also cheaper.

I've been impressed with mine from FAA. I just did a one-time card for the nurses on my floor at my hospital stay last week and another for the doctor. Then my wife and I are planning to send out our Christmas cards from my site, as well. Not bad advertising.

I print my own cards and print cards for others, too. The paper I use is, of course, flat and does have a fold crease in it. I just did a small order for someone - 15 assorted cards and envelopes - and deliberately did not fold them. They are not only easier to ship that way, they are easier to store and the customer wants to use them over time, so that's a consideration. Folded, not folded - certainly would not be a deal breaker or maker for me. Less or more expensive shipping - could be.

And your cards look gorgeous, Gill. Not a car fan but it's unique and classy and I really love the other two scenes.

Thanks very much Nikolyn, I have quite a few friends in the UK who own Mustangs so I like to send them a special card each year, I'm a car nut anyway!

I just ordered cards of mine, had them printed elsewhere and they came flat and packaged between cardboard and I received them within 3 days of ordering

Hi, Gill,

I like making my own cards, but would be lost without my 'bone folder'. It makes a sharp, professional crease, every time! Costs a few dollars at your local craft store -

I was going to suggest that you use the handle of a butter knife to do it the same way as the video shows to use a bone folder. I always use a piece of card stock between the new card and the butter knife/bone folder just as a precaution to make certain not to mark the paper...probably not needed.
Now that I know that a bone folder exists I'll probably have to buy one as I am a bit of a "gearhead".

Bob, they're great for hand scoring, too! I prefer a Teflon (tm) folder; they glide more easily across the paper.

I haven't ordered cards - and It's not my purpose to change the subject - but - that Mustang card would make a great image to hang on the wall if it just didn't say "Merry Christmas".

Yes Roy, thanks I also have the original I did without the words like this

but maybe the colours I did on the Christmas card are better, maybe I should offer that as well
