Hmmm...I know of nothing that explains the icons, they seem pretty self explanatory to me.

That's true but they are small and out of the way so how is one to know they are even there, I guess that is the question...to begin with.

I think you are referring to the like, favorite, comment and share buttons for facebook, twitter and so on. That is to show you how many times your image has been liked, favored or commented on. Also shows how many times it has been pinned or facebooked and so on.
Also, you can use this tool yourself to like, favor and share others works.

I just liked, favored and commented on http://fineartamerica.com/featured/wintering-on-flat-creek-terry-mair.html You will see that there are now a one on each of these icons. Sorry, bad linking. It was Wintering on flat creek.

the location and shape changes, but eventually new people understand them. watched means someone is looking at what you upload and such. favorite means it goes into their favorites so they can go back to them later or something. liked gives you a like, it was called something else, but changed to that - it works like facebook. it might help you in the search. and the social buttons should be self explanatory.

I do know what the buttons mean, but thanks for taking me at my word on the dumb part, that was a joke by the way.
What I was wondering is: is there somewhere that actually explains that those little buttons exist for new members so we don't just sit around wishing there was a like button for some images, and to be clear I am talking about the little gray buttons on the upper R/H side above where you can order a print is you want, and not the little colorful buttons below our avatars.

And here's another question, in my last post, the one above this one I used a 'Greater than" symbol, and a couple of parentheses and it deleted half of my post, I had to edit it to put the rest of the reply in, why did it do that?

Because that is code (part of site coding) and would screw up your message

That's what the greater than symbol does in these comment boxes.
when you have left a comment and decide to delete it, the program requires something to be typed instead....just use that symbol and it all disappears.
