Ah, I see, he's trying to use the activity section on his AW rather than logging in at FAA to comment and reply to people he follows or who have commented on his work, not the actual artwork pages. I never used the AW for that so it took me a second to figure out where he was having this problem since he clearly couldn't be clicking on the comments underneath the art. There are no links there anymore (thankfully).
The redirects from the Activity page are happening because there were previously leaks through on the public facing side so John Doe's art profile was accessible under Bob Smith's personal domain. All or most of those links throughs were re-directed so that they no longer lead off to someone else's domain so they would drop out of Google's index eventually.
Easy fix is just to come to FAA (or Pixels, etc.) and use the activity page here. Long term, if you post your problem in detail to the thread Heather linked you to above it might be updated to allow those links to work on the activity page since those are for the artist only. And for what it's worth, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. And explaining where exactly you are having the problem gives concrete details on how to address it. 'I'm visiting X page on my site, I'm doing Y, and Z is happening.'
