How To Format Large Images, Please Help

Hello guys, my name is Terry Mair, I am new to FAA.
I have uploaded some images, but I have some large panoramics that I would love to upload but I can't figure out how to keep the maximum dimensions for the image, and make it small enough gig wise to upload, can some one who is more savvy on this please explain what I need to do.
The printers I have used in the past just print form the file I FTP to them so I never had to worry about it being to large, just to small.
Thanks for your help
Terry

its always an issue. the ratio controls how large the largest can be. so it you don't need it too tall. 25megs is the limit, i can save up to a level of 9 but i wouldn't go under that. its a challenge to work under the tight requirements this site has. i wish the update was to increase the size of the image in megs like other sites. but all you can do for now is to crop or drop the level of clarity. but not so much they won't print it.

Hello Mike
I like your work!!
Thanks for your reply
Ok so can you explain how I can do this in Photoshop, like I said I have no idea, I have never been confronted with this problem. I have always been more concerned with them being to small.
Thanks again for your reply

Hi,

Yes allow a maximum of 25mb uploads per image and If the file is larger than that you will, unfortunately have to shrink of slightly compress the images

We print at 100dpi up so that makes your math easy. 1000 pixels at 100ppi would be 10"

You may compress safely down to 10-11 before losing any quality on the print

what is the pixel size of the current panorama you have right now?

Saving your work in jpeg format should generate files significantly lower than 25 MB except if you do photo stitching
when you speak about large panoramics, what size are you speaking about ?

Thank you guys for the replies!!!
Ok the average for the panos is about 167 mgs, in it's current size it is 46.5"X22" and is 240 PPI, so what I need to know is how do I downsize this image so it can be printed 96" long and still meet the 25mb limit?
Thanks again

whats the size in pixels - inches and ppi don't mean a lot here. though you probably won't get 96" long because i think the ratio is tighter than that. the only way is to save it at a lower compression.

I have several that will print at 96" (and 108"). One I checked was 19010px by 4916px, probably saved on 10 (I won't go down to 9). I could have reduced the pixels some if needed, since technically that's enough pixels for FAA to print it much bigger.

Well how cool is that, Thanks guys, and Thank Greg, I saved it at 10, I probably could have saved it at 11.
Thanks again guys, I appreciate the help...lots!!!

Last resort, sell them as diptychs or triptychs. Split them up into 3 or separate images.
