Faa Glitch In Submitting Images To Groups

There is a glitch in the FAA process for submitting images to the groups. I describe my experiences below and welcome everyone’s opinion on the subject.
(1) First off – and this is a practical issue rather than a glitch – the number of images that can be submitted to groups, is limited by FAA, based on “a 24 hour period”. For practical reasons, I feel, this should be based on “per calendar day” rather than “per 24 hour period”. That would work perfectly, even if we all live in different time zones.
(2) And now … about the glitch:
Let us take for example, a group which accepts 3 images per day – ie, actually, “3 images per 24 hours”.
Sometimes my images do not get submitted even though my previous submission was more than 2 days earlier.
At other times I only manage to submit 1 or 2 images (instead of 3), even though my last submission to the group was more than 24 hours prior to that.
I think that the FAA system does not count its “24 hours” based on MY exact time of submission, but rather, the date & time at which the group administrator processed that image and removed it from the group’s “pending” folder. This is a major problem.
Here is a real case (real data) from my recent experience :
A certain group accepts one image per WEEK. To this group, I submitted an image on 9th October.
On 12th October (Sunday), the group administrator moved the image out of the “Pending” folder and into the “Active images” folder of that group. (BTW, thereafter, when I look at the image in the Active folder of the group, the “Date of Submission” itself is marked as 12th Oct instead of 9th Oct!!!
On 13th Oct, as the new week had started, I tried to submit my next weekly image to the group. The submission did not go through… the system rejected it saying that it was not within the allowed limit. It should have allowed my image, as my previous submission was on Oct 9th.
I think this is a major issue. This glitch severely obstructs my attempts to submit images to groups in an optimal way. For example, for groups which accept 1 image a day, even though I try to submit exactly one image per day, I manage to submit only around 15 or 20 images in a month, instead of 30. Your views are welcome, thanks.

Hi, Sue,

I mentioned this in another discussion just a day or two ago. I've only noticed it recently, but, like you, I've had several group submissions not go through based on the time of acceptance, not on the time of submission. The gap between the two times can be days -- weeks, in some groups.

Abbie, is it at all feasible that part of this challenge is due to the server not indexing every 24 hours.

I believe there are 2 issues :

(1) The first is a technical issue: I think the FAA system does not have a separate data field to contain the date & time at whch the group'd administrator accepted / processed the image from the group's "Pending" folder. Due to this, processing time is also uploaded (superimposed) on the same data field in which my image submission date was originally stored.

(2) The second issue is a question of adopting a "human and practical" approach. We humans tend to function on a "day" basis, rather than a "24-hour" basis. For example, I may have the habit of doing my image submissions to groups, in the mornings, befor leaving for work. On Day 1, I may submit my image at 8 am. On Day 2, because I need to get in to work a little earlier, I may submit at 7.50 am instead of 8 am. Currently the FAA system would not allow the submission to go through, as it is done 10 minutes short of 24 hours!! If a "calendar date" approach is used instead by FAA, this image submission would go through!

Concur on that, Sue.

Thank you, Abbie! :-)

@Greg ... I think the calendar date issue is not the only issue. The other issue I've mentioned is equally important, I think.

Love to hear about any updates on this

This has really been a pain for me, trying to figure out when to upload again to a group.

I've just about given up on it. Why should it be a challenge?
