I was curious in why the ISO turn red when it's set on AUTO ISO.

That's a function of your camera, so if you have the manual or can find one on line, read it. I bet it's in red to tell you that it's in auto. Does itdo on on high ISO or all the time on auto? It might be a warning that theISO is getting high. What else do you have on auto when you shoot?

I have the AUTO ISO ON with the Minimum shutter speed at 1/100 and the Maximum sensitivity at 1600.

The only auto function I typically use is the focus and that's because my eyes are getting bad. Remember the higher the ISO, the more likely you are to get grain or noise in your image. Some folks have trouble holding a camera steady at 1/100th as well.

What camera do you have? Maybe here is somebody with the same, who can help you.

I always set my camera to the lowest iso I can use for the conditions in which I'm shooting. Usually I keep it on 100 or 200. I rarely go higher than that. I don't do much action photography though.

Vonnie;

Add some keywords to this shot

Photography Prints

and I bet your views will go up. It's the Nickel Plate 2-8-4 Lima steam enginebult in 1944 and there are only a few pages of images on FAA of it. Adding in some relevant keywords would greatly help --

Nickel Plate Railroad, Nickle Plate Railroad, Lima, steam engine, NKP, 765, 2-8-4, Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, Norfolk Southern Railway, NS 21st Century Steam Program, passenger train, steam train, plume of smoke, coal fired,

The railroad ceased to exist long ago and people always misspell it, so put both versions in.

Without knowing your camera, it could be that the ISO turning red is a warning that the camera cannot get a proper exposure because you have restricted the ISO to 1600 and it actually needs a higher number.

When using auto ISO you set a minimum and a maximum. If the ISO is in red it means you have exceeded the minimum and the camera has set the ISO at a higher value then what you set as the minimum.

I never use that.
