Licenses

My town is considering the use of a couple of my images in their new branding make over. I have no clue as to what is right to ask in the way of fees. Please offer some suggestions.

Thanks, Lou

As a good citizen of your Town and Country I think there should be no charge, but I think it would be great if your name was mentioned.

How will they be used? Need to narrow it down for us.

Conor, I guess I am not a good citizen. They are going to pay somebody for images, I want to be a professional artist. It's in the budget. I already volunteer on city advisory boards, participate on days we are asked to clean city parks, so on and so on. The Mayor gets paid, City Manager is paid, When city vehicles are serviced, the local mechanic is not doing it for free, etc. etc. I kind of get riled up when someone who does not know what I have done for "town and country" suggests I am not a good citizen or unpatriotic.

Edward, I am not sure. Brochures and Website most likely.

There's nothing unpatriotic about getting paid for your work. And if money has been budgeted, the city must be OK with it, too.

I'm not sure what would be a fair price. There are so many variables. Usage, the size of the budget, making the transaction worthwhile for you, etc. Knowing their budget, though, would help you find a ballpark figure to start negotiations.
