Those are very nice! I would love to be able to get this but my computers are too old to meet the requirements. Someday, when I get new ones , this will be on my wish list for sure.

Does it really do more than the Topaz Simplify version? These all sorta look like they could have been made in Simplify.........which I have,

It is good, but quite slow. It has to re-render every time you change a setting. I am enjoying playing with it, though.

That's beautiful, Rich! :)
"Impression" has several artistic styles to apply to your image...also you can change lots of characteristics of brush strokes, etc. It's on sale right now...I think today is the last day...for $79.99.

I've tested it, and as a digital painter who has helped develop lots of art programs I think it is a fun tool. The results were bad in all my tests, but I work with very large images. I couldn't get anything usable out of it that was up to my standards. I was a bit disappointed since I own all of TopazLabs filters.
This type of app is considered a auto cloner, or painter, and there are much better software programs for that on the market like Postworkshop. If auto painting is what you are interested in I highly recommend looking at Postworkshop. It's is a professional level tool.
Note: Topaz Lab contacted me and says they are going to look into fixing my list of issues with the software.
@Dian, please be careful what you label your work. Photo filters are Photo Manipulations, not Paintings. You don't want to open that can of worms with the painting crowd.;)
@Rich It's way different than Simplify!
It also runs very fast on my machine and I am working at very large scale. If you are using a graphics workstation it should work very well. A home laptop or computer may have issue with speed. It even works fine on my 2012 Macbook Pro.

Diane - Thank you. Photo manipulation is what they are. You're also mixing photography with a paint program so it's digital mixed media. Photographic art is another phrase I see used by many. I'm also in agreement with LC that technically it's not a painting. But I will say it's beautiful work. Nicely done.

I would love to have the chance of using this plug in but, like others, my computer graphics card is not compatible. I've upgraded all the drivers but still no luck. Unless this computer bites the dust I'm not likely to upgrade.

LC,
do you need to be a "painter to use Impressions to it's fullest? Simplify is very easy.
For others, here is the What's new Topaz Simplify 4 video. It's long and thorough, 57 minutes! I use about 3%!!! LOL!
I've got Win7,64 bit and 8 gb of RAM and this is still slow! You can usually get Topaz Simplify for under $20, like I did!

Here'a another image, with a "different" treatment from Topaz simplify:
What I like about simplify, is that they have a slider that can be adjusted,at the end of the process and you can knock back the degree or intensity of that filter or treatment, whic I usually do use,

I have used it by now quite extensively and published a review of the program with many examples on my blogsite:

We have here on FAA also a group called Topaz Simplify and Impression Photo renderings. Feel free to post your pictures there:

I downloaded the free trial. I can't get it to work... urgh! Maybe tomorrow when I'm off, I can figure it out. I put the license key in and it was accepted, but when I try and hit apply - it says license key not found. Anyone else have this problem and figure it out?

I recently purchased Postworkshop and I like what it does but when i render a file the file size is very small. a 9MB 4288x2488 file ends up at 2.1MB and 1551x1251 or so. As far as I know i'm rendering at full size but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Anyone have any ideas?

Les,
Very nice! But what was the unexpected effect?
Jack, that effects works nicely with this image!
Cathy, Nice! I can't answer you question, never had Corel, but I did have a cheaper Corel product and didn't care for it. Topaz seems to be very easy to use and well designed and I would suggest you download a trial version and try it out AND then get back to us with your "Impression" LOL!

Here are 2 images, from a recent "dumpster diving" excursion I went on,taking a break from the cars. Both of these images are old, 2010,2011 or so and had inherent issues, not to mention a bit of dust on the sensors!!! LOL! So rather than clone the dust off for an hour or so each, I've never did anything with these and not the sharpest either, but hidden under the Impression, no problem!

Peter, that is a fabulous shot! Rich, I think he is saying he uses it, but in addition with other tools as well.
Could be wrong, but that is the way I read it.

Rich.. I am glad to see those 2 dumpster dive creations. I have been saying all along that there are no bad photographs.. there is always something you can do with them and in the process of trying to squeeze something out your get a combination of the creative and serendipitous.. The best part is that you can start with a very low res image or extreme crop and end up with a high res masterpiece..... I am especially glad to see that you are comfortable with letting go of the detail and natural colors.
nicely done

Thanks Rebecca...and Rich I have ALL the Topaz products as well well as a few by other companies. I play with combinations to get the look I'm after...rarely do I work with only one plug-in or filter.

Bob,
Trust me, there are "BAD PHOTOS!", I've got a jar full of them!!! LOL!
I agree with what you're saying, as long as the image has a good composition and interesting elements, there is a potential life ahead for it. And I'm not a "pixel peeper" by any means and have no problem with "playing" with the image, size included!
Peter,
So that's your secret! BAHHHAAAAAA!!! I'm gonna start making plane stuff tooo!!!! BaHHHHHAAAAA!!! Here's my first one! Look for this and MANY others on the "Recently Sold" page!!!!
Pretty hard to tell them apart huh!!!
