Kyphoplasty

Hi everyone, I went to a friend house and when they open the door, their dog running into my leg causing me falling backward and fractured my lumbar! I was so much in pain, I
went to the ER and the Doctor want me to stay for a couple day so they can inject Kyphoplasty into my spinal but I did not want it because I know nothing about it. Anyone has information about this procedure please let me know, it really appreciated.

Sorry to read that happened to you. Hopefully someone can assist you with furthering your knowledge but I can't be of help with the term Kyphoplasty. Minus that it doesn't sound like a fun procedure for the doctor to conduct on you.

I worked for 6 years as a consultant to neurosurgeons on behalf of a medical device company. I can assure you that this is a relatively simple procedure that will restore your vertebrae to its normal height (or very close to it) and relieve the pain from the fracture. I know it sounds scary but even brain and spinal surgery is simple in the hands of trained experts.

To-Tam, my elderly mother had this surgery when she was over 80. It went well and relieved her back pain. She had slipped and fell while getting out of bed. I don't have any information other than that, because I was out of state and wasn't around to see her recovery. I believe a former coworker also had it done, with good result. I hope you can ask your doctor lots of questions and get a second opinion if you need to. Good luck!!

I have had physiotherapy recently for the same problem you have, I feel much better now. I can send those pictures I took at that time if you like to try. If so, need your email address.

To-Tam , so sorry to hear of your injuries.

Please do accept the help that you need in order to recover. It does no good to allow inflammation to continue & possibly cause more injury to that area.
Best wishes.

Kyphoplasty is a procedure in which bone cement is injected through a small hole in the skin. Get well soon :)

"their dog running into my leg causing me falling backward and fractured my lumbar!"

Next contact a lawyer and see if you can get compensation from your friends. After all their dog injured you.. If your "friend" has house insurance, they should be quite willing to see that you get compensated for your very bad injury.
