Kodak Announces End Of Bw400cn C-41 Black & White Film

Kodak Announces the End of Its Much-Loved BW400CN C-41 Black & White Film

http://petapixel.com/2014/08/21/kodak-announces-discontinuation-c-41-process-bw-film-bw400cn/

A bit related, maybe not. When I went digital with my old Canon 300D, I kept my Canon Elan 7 and planned to keep shooting some film. But, of course, the camera just sat there for months in my bag. Then I took it out of my bag so that i wasn't walking around with dead weight so much. I later gave it to my sister-in-law who liked to shoot pictures but did not have her own camera. At least it was getting used, I thought. Later, she, like so many others, bought a digital camera and gave me the Elan back.

Again, I said I was going to start using it again. I never took near as many shots on slide film that I wanted to, converting late in my analog era, so the plan was to shoot both analog and digital. Again, the Elan was dead weight in my bag and I eventually took it out again and put it on my book shelf, where it has sat for six years at least. Every once in a while, I will walk by it and think, "You know, I should..." And then I stop myself and say, "No, I shouldn't."

That was a great film. Sad.

Yeah .... tonal range reminds me of the 'old' Tri-X. Though much sharper with a bit of creaminess.

Kodak has a parent company now and its CEO is from Germany .... he seems to be making the company lean and powerful.

Not happy about that. I've shot a bunch of stuff with it and still actively use it, although less than I used to.

From a recent roll.

Note that Ilford makes a similar film.

I know Illford has been buying a lot of Kodak operations facilities. They make a better film anyhow so at least it will be replaced with something better.
