The Street Photographer's Manual
July 2014

David Gibson’s book, The Street Photographer’s Manual was recently published by Thames & Hudson.

“The remarkable thing about this book is that 80% of it simply came tumbling out of my head. It is – to be a bit grand – about a love affair with street photography that has endured for over 25 years. Everything goes into this book, the history and kindred spirits together with my singular approach on how you might do it. The book is almost a retrospective of my work but more importantly it includes photographs from many others, such as Saul Leiter, Sergio Larrain, Fan Ho and Elliott Erwitt. It is also a deep appreciation to my In-Public (magazine) colleagues whose work inevitably feature throughout”

About....
DAVID GIBSON
" My shelves at home are lined with photography books. The work of the so-called master photographers – and the less heralded – have always been a source of reassurance and stimulation for my own photography."

David Gibson worked for several years as a Residential Social Worker before pursuing photography full-time in 1994. In 2002 he completed an MA in Photography: History and Culture at the London College of Printing.

Some of his photographs are featured in the Thames and Hudson book, Street Photography Now, an anthology of the world’s leading street photographers.

In addition to his photography David regularly leads Street Photography workshops in London and other cities worldwide.
