Hello to All,
No, no UFO's here! Just a great movie and a Documentary.
The Movie: Still Mine A GREAT movie, rated 93% by Rotten Tomatoes, with James Cromwell and my favorite actress, Genevieve Bujold! A story of us, all of us, at some point in our lives. Whether you're "old" now, gonna be old or know old people, this is a bittersweet movie and actually based on a true story. James Cromwell was nominated for an Oscar for this preformance and should have gotten it, you'll see!

Doc: The Newburgh Sting", by HBO, which I assume can be had on Netflix and other sources. The story of our govenment, stting up these four guys, when the FBI needed "terrorists" arrested after 9/11 and the focus was ALL about Muslims. Bittersweet, but hopeful that this will be corrected still. Watch the "informer/FBI" people, manipulate these guys, and make sure they do everything they need to do, to make this a Federal case and once they do all the steps, the hammer comes down and then listen to the lies told by our officials, mayor, senators, etc.

If anybody gets anyhting out of this. I'll post more as they happen,

Thanks for the recommendations! I didn't know Genevieve Bujold was still acting. Can't wait to see this one. And I love HBO -- good stuff. I got it free with my cable sign-up, but so far they haven't removed it after a year. Maybe I just jinxed myself, lol.

John,
Hello! Every Monday, they,HBO has a new Doc shown, usually around 9:00 or so. Always thought provoking.
by the way, how are YOUR sales doing? You can email me privately, if you like.
Patricia, She actually does a "nude scene, sorta kinda! Great actress and tiny, especially next to James Cromwell. Very sweet movie and as I said earlier, maybe the best I've seen this year!
And unfortunately for those my age and up,becoming very relevant!

Tonight's movie was "Cesar Chavez" and another movie we all need to see, more for educational reasons than entertainment. Looks like Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 66.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/cesar_chavez_an_american_hero/
But the important thing, is that this movie shows, in a long line of abuses that our "American Father's" have dealt, for the Corporate Big Money. From Native Americans,to Japanese Americans, to African Americans to today's fighting the Gay rights, this is an important film. This is our history and cannot be denied.
Very good story and good acting........enjoy! and Learn!!!

New Documentary for tonight!
"Tim's Vermeer"!
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/tims_vermeer_2014/
Trailer: https://movies.yahoo.com/video/tims-vermeer-trailer-212050412.html
If you are an artist, if you are a painter, if you are a photographer, etc.etc., you'll love this movie about this mans quest to solve a mystery, why does Vermeer's paintings look like a video still shot?
Being a rich person certainly helps and a little "OCD" qualities will be an advantage here, but still AMAZING movie about an AMAZING project!
Enjoy!

Hellooooo? Tap,Tap!
At least watch the trailer and see how amazing this project was. The painting itself took over 180 days of painting tiny portions of the image..........

I'm reading the posts and making a list.

PS - Longmire was a riveting experience this week!

Rich, I watched Still Mine a few weeks ago. I agree, a very excellent movie. And a treat to see both of these wonderful actors. I have not seen the documentaries you mentioned, I will put them on my list for sure.

Ann,
James Cromwell was amazing and I think his first role as the lead actor.
Tim's Vermeer, is just something every artist should see, it's a bit long, especially when he begins to paint the Vermeer, which I think is intentional.......
But what he goes through to duplicate EVERYTHING that Vermeer had back in the day! He,Tim, personally builds the entire set, from the walls to the windows, furniture, etc.!!!
Not something that I would like to attempt!

Jim mentioned about Genevieve Bujold being Canadian. As I recall the movie is Canadian. Anyway the story takes place in Canada. I have not seen her in anything since her younger days.

Ann,
Yes this movie was shot in Canada, Ontario and New Brunswick. Above is a link for Genevieve's other movies she's been in.....

Mo,
I don't watch many movies more than once, less than a handful come to mind, Dances With Wolves, is one, but I would watch this again! He should have won the Oscar!
Rebecca,
Watched the Season Finale last night of Longmire, excellent! And I just think that after a series like this get popular and the money starts to roll in, the whole show get's better, from the writting to the filming and this was great! I got started on Longmire from the books and found longmire from reading CJ Box and his BLM Game Warden character, Joe Pickett. AND then from there to another Western writer, CM Wendelboe!

New one tonight, "Nixon by Nixon: In his own words"
http://www.hbo.com/#/schedule/detail/Nixon+By+Nixon:+In+His+Own+Words/556679
A very troublesome video to watch, to see behind the curtain, of the White House and the American people and how things presented, do not always portray what is real. What was told to the American people and what was actually done, two very different stories! The result of course, was the resignation of an American President and the loss of a belief of what the government says and does, are sometimes complete opposites,
Again, a good video, for educational purposes,
Rich
p.s Tonight was a replay of the "Cheshire Murders" and how the local police allowed, by lack of effort, the rape and murder of a mother and her 2 girls, while the police were outside and waiting for somebody to issue orders,

Another great documentary tonight, "Dirty Wars" about the United States and the behind the scenes covert operations that are being carried out, illegally and with White House approval.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dirty_wars_2013/
They give it an 85 and I think it should be closer to 90 or more. Really an educational couple of hours, that ALL Americans should see and digest, what our country is doing and how, through these covert operations, killing civilians, we are creating terrorists.

A Journey!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKv93LcfLOI
Anybody that likes Journey, the band and then, who doesn't, here is a new Doc about the band and their new lead singer. A real "Rocky" kinda movie. Almost unbelievable! Where the singer starts and where this ends.
I've not been following this band, but always listen to their songs! One of their songs is the all time leader for "downloaded" songs, ever!

Here's the new documentary fro HBO, about NY Fire Fighters and Steve Buscemi, the actor, now from HBO's Boardwalk Empire, but als had been a fire fighter,in NYC for 4 years, before becoming an actor. Very good and presented well from Steve, without a lot of hype or fluff added.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFoaxqQbAdo
The last section deals with the 9-11 attack and the loss of life, both from the civilians and the fire fighters themselves........apropos to yesterday's anniversary..........

Another tough documentary to watch, but needs to be viewed by all. "The Central Park Five", a story of the late 80' and early 90's and the attitude in America about race and violence. Have we really changed as a nation since then?

Directed by Ken Burns, yes THAT Ken Burns.................

Rich, "Tim's Vermeer" was on Starz cable and all those, including you, who raved about it were certainly right!
Wow! It's a must-see for artists and serious photographers alike.
It was on demand on Starz, so it still may be there for those who have that cable service.
I also recommend "Sin City." The first one is now playing on Starz.
Photographers who do selective color work will get a bang out of the cinematography.
Looks like this:

Here's another great DVD to watch, but not an easy watch at all.
"A Place at the Table".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgxxT4xpVNI
A story about hunger here in the U.S. and something getting worse, every year. Food is everywhere, but getting good food to those without the adequate income, is now impossible. Asking charities to handle a political problem is wrong and we as a people should be embrassed. The stigma that is associated with poverty and food, is political, not social,

I saw Gone Girl last week and it was great. Twists and turns. If you haven't read the book its surprising.
