The prize is "worldwide publicity and promotion"? You charge an entry fee, yet the winners only get a vague promise in return.

Entry fee=profit center maybe?

So how much is it to enter? I clicked on 2 links and only the second one suggests that there is an entry fee, but it does not say how much. I do not want to register just to find out how expensive it is, I think I will pass....

I entered one of John's contest a few years ago. He does deliver on the "world wide" promotion. He sends out news announcements all over the place.

He has also created a new website for artists to advertise in.....free.

Part of promoting your art is getting it into as many sites as you can. Adding it to art directories, contests, search engines, blogs,.......on and on it goes. The more you do to get seen the more you will get seen.

Darice,

sorry to be skeptical, are those news announcements email only? Have you sold any of your work to a client refereed through his website? Are the "all over the place" news announcements going out to potential buyers or mostly artists who sign up to find out how much is the entry fee? Thanks.

Here's what I found for entry fees:

ENTRY FEE:
The entry fee is $12.00 for two (2) entries or $20.00 three or more, up to five (5) entries.

Found this under the following link:

@ Sebastian, They go out as press releases to magazines, news papers and online;

"5. Winners for that month will be promoted to 70+ news and press release outlets and to more than 75+ event websites throughout the world, thus creating more traffic, exposure and back links to the artist and their website.

6. Winning artists are marketed and promoted extensively through social media networking. Including promotions and posts on Delicious, Digg, Facebook, Friendfeed, Google+, Linkedin, Pinterest, Stumbleupon, Triberr and Twitter."

Here is a link to my press release when I won 4th place.

My painting did not sell do to this contest but it did get a lot of attention. The painting has sold through my efforts of promoting it. Having it as a winning entry gave it a little more credibility.
