Celebrating The Game Of Golf For Dad

I worked on this image for my father's birthday next month. He loves golf and I love him but not fond of the game... what he doesn't know won't hurt him... shhh, that's just between you and me... lol. I just hope he enjoys the image when I present it to him in frame. I enjoy your opinions so if you see something I need to correct or improve, please let me know.

Davina, I think that's a really cool image. I really like it. The only comment I would have is can you add slightly more space on the left so the club upper left is not so close to the edge of the image? Since the background is black, I would think you could maybe add a slight bit more on that side.

Otherwise, I think it's a great image! I'm sure he'll love it.

Most Golf balls have names and no's on them... Maybe you could personalize this with your Fathers name somewhere on the ball... Flags and holes are also a big part of golf and could maybe be incorporated into the image... maybe..sup to you :-)........ other than that, its good..I like it

@Mary - ooooh, that's a great idea... I should have seen that (knocking my head on the wall)... sigh. I'm going to correct that. Thanks.

@Barry - you really got a great idea, too. For my father's version, I'll add his name to it. For me to add the other elements I'm going to have to really research it, so I can be as accurate as possible.

I've made some adjustments to the image above. What do you think?

Hi Davina.. It's difficult to see the changes without being able to compare the before and after... I don't actually notice any difference... sorry :-)

Oh, I've already did away with the other version. Dang it!! I took Mary's advice and moved the image to give the left club more room. I also added a golf course at the bottom to add more strength to the golf theme. Next time, I will remember to save a copy of the older version for comparison questions... sorry.

opps, it looked like the image had updated and I didn't need to post another one. Now I look and the orignal is up there, I think FAA is a little wacky today.

Here is the post of the updated verison:

Love your concept Davina the objects look like they are in motion. Golf is an active recreational sport and the "motion" makes your image exciting. The golf clubs though are almost in the same position on either side of the golf ball making the image appear centered and the ball having "antennas."

For variety possibly putting one of the clubs in front of the ball at a different angle and having the ball sitting on a tee for added interest or shrink the ball and position only one club so that it looks like it is ready to hit the ball out of the image to some unseen or seen fairway.

I love golf! Yet it, like chess, can drive a person crazy! :-)))

While I can relate to this image, and like it very much, I will leave you with the (paraphrased) words of Bobby Jones:

“The most difficult golf course is only four inches long. It is the space between one's ears”.

I see it now Davina.. Yes much better.. I think it looks great as is... well done!
Walter.. I did a quick measure...5, 1/4 inches here :-D

Davina -

I love the game and I think this is wonderful work! I can't imagine your dad not loving it. I think the addition of the golf course is perfect. Personally, I would stay away from adding any brand name to the ball since there are many, and plenty of golfers get hooked on just one of two of them. If you add one brand you might dissuade some people who prefer another brand from a print purchase. OR . . . you could do a series by adding brand names. Just thinking out loud here. :)

Hope you will let us know what your dad thinks of your original and highly creative birthday gift next month!
