Just A Newbie Looking For Any Feedback..

to whomever that reads this, i'd like to know how my photographs translate to you. I'm very new to this and thought i'd give it a shot to see if its worth selling through FAA. thanks for your time..

I suggest adding the locations (i.e. actual city names) as keywords. Although you're going for things like color light and mood, rather than "landmarks", I think people still search for familiar places and "their" cities.

Is it worth your time to upload and market your work? How much work do you intend to put into trying to sell?

The uploading is the easy part... next comes the effort in making your work standout and get sold.

How do they translate to me... nothing jumps off the page at me if that's what you mean? Might want to clarify what you're looking for.

You have some excellent work here - very moody and industrial. I especially like "Luminous Angles."
Some of your work is obviously meant to be at an angle, but a few just seem to be off slightly. "Industrial Silence", "Last Voyage" and "Eastern" are just enough off straight to be slightly bothersome to me.
In addition, some of your works lack a focus for the viewer to rest on. Lines lead across the picture and off the side with nothing to go from or too. (Check Google images for "night street traffic" to get an idea what I'm refering to.)
Your work has great color and I love that you are finding interest in the "different". That reveals a true artist's spirit.
I hope to see more of your photographs.

Gabriel.. Hello ;O)

Simple answer.. yes, your images are worth selling here. I have not looked at any for technical issues [ noise, blur ] I will leave that for others.

Of course you have a bit of a mix here, but the industrial ones I think are definitely sellable. They are very colorful and modern and would be right at home in a big city apartment.

You have no descriptions and some of your titles are quite confusing. "Last Voyage?" That would indicate a very old lonely ship or an abandoned one, not a harbor. "Existence" for a highway at night doesn't make much sense either.
You have some good shots. They seem sharp and clear. You will need a lot more though.
To get seen, use social media, email blasts, LinkedIn, etc. FAA does not promote its artists-it is up to us to get potential buyers here.
Good luck.

Bob, that made my day. I appreciate the compliment.. yes this is a mix that im trying to fix and create a style to appeal to most. im also trying to work on adding more photos to give more options per gallery category which I have yet to create. for now I just uploaded these to see what response I get.

after checking your profile I quickly became a fan of your art. your a true artist with great color contrasting. consider me a fan.

Louise, thank you for your reply. I simply couldn't come up with a title for some of the photos and honestly gave them a random title (trying to be artsy lol) but I understand your confusion. i'll definetly keep that in mind for next time. thanks for the advice too!

Don't try to be "artsy" or appeal to every taste. Do what feels best to you-find your niche.

anything has a chance at selling as long as you market them. looking at the images - they seem all over the place. not enough of any one theme to let my eyes settle. the colors are everywhere as well, and nothing is all that straight. while a major tilt is ok, a tiny tilt will drive people nuts when they try to hang it. you have no locations, and the titles are a bit bland, and you have no descriptions. people are interested in towns and such and not telling us where it is, will hurt sales. calling something blue day and only having 5 keywords, won't help you in the slightest at being found.

be sure to add a bio and advertise the work though - no one will find it otherwise.

The worthiness of your images matters little if you don't have a plan to get noticed among the zillions of other people trying to sell their photographs and artwork.

I like the industrial and construction images.. they stand out here on FAA. there aren't much of them around. I think I'd be tempted to focus a bit on that market. They are great shots..you may want to consider some basic line straightening and "squaring up" but generally good stuff! There is a big market for these types of images if you know where to push your stuff.. I think the "types" that buy this type of photography don't sit around surfing on FAA..ever! Try approaching the construction firms and suppliers etc directly(they all have offices and headquarters where your prints should be:-).. then lead them back here to get the prints.....
Good luck!

edit: It may be worth putting the construction firm, or architects name in among the many other keywords you should add!..(research your subject:)

Mike, thanks for your input.. I will definetly keep that in mind for future photos. Edward, very true.. thanks. Barry, your right, I've been hearing that a lot lately and will probably lean towards the construction category more now that you mention it. good idea about "construction firms".. I've thought of it before but now I will definetly put some effort in researching these firms. thanks for your time and criticism. I appreciate it guys!

I don't see any 'high viz man' in the photo - isn't that yellow spot a reflection?

that's a reflection of something, because he would have to be inside the building and the glass is tinted. and by the scale, he'd have to be 7ft tall, though it's hard to tell due to the skew the zoom does to edges. if you look at the other floors you'll see the other yellow marks. or we can split the difference and say it's a ghost.

Scales bang on to me... having worked a few "real" jobs on various building sites.. I KNOW a hi viz jacket when I see one... And that is a high viz jacket!

Barry Lamont

The skew doesn't help... but the colour doesn't match the other reflections.. there is a definite green glow which doesn't tie in with reflections.. I may be wrong.. I often am.. But i'm 99%sure its a high viz jacket as worn by the foremen on a project like this.
