New Images Showing First

Hello all, When I go to the FFA site and search my name (I don't log in) my older work is on top and my newer is on the bottom. But when I am logged in it is reverse, my new stuff is showing first. How can I get my newer work to show first? If someone were to search me ( I have people who have that I know) they don't see my newer work. Is there a way to always have my newer work first?

Thank you

Patricia

Assuming your are referring to the search engine rankings when searching your name, the rankings are generated by the engine, to my knowledge. We are not privy to the criteria programmed in the algorithms, for obvious reason.

Does that help?

Good day Jeffrey,

I am not referring to me pulling up on the search engine per say, but rather if someone specific were to look me up on FAA, they would see my older work first. I would like to have the option of having my newer work first (page 1 then 2 and so on...)

I hope I am making my question clear enough :)

Unfortunately, Patricia, artists do not have the ability to organise their images and control how the FAA search engine chooses to display those results. The only control you have would pertain to choosing the organisation of your images directly on your website.

For example, on your artwork page you can re-organise the display, and you can do the same within each particular gallery. Other than that, there are no additional options that I am aware of. I'm sorry.

If you have multiple images of the same area or landmark it seems like it is best to upload your best one first.

As you noted the older ones seem to show up first all else being equal.

Say you took 5 different photos of the Statue of Liberty, if someone searches for the Statue of Liberty it seems like the first one you upload will be the one most likely to come up first in the search results. If there is one spectacular one and 4 good ones, upload the spectacular one first.

I had that same complaint Patricia, one good note is that there are filters "recently added" "recently commented on" etc that will show your client newer work.

Really? Why not just have your site show your galleries instead of images? Then when they click on each gallery, the newest image will be showing first. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding what you're saying here. Which is possible!

Adam it does make sense to upload them as I would like them to appear. I just would like to have that ability to change that if I wanted to. Jeffrey did explain that I cannot do that. Oy.

Peggy, I actually was thinking that might be my next step. You understood correctly.

Pamela I will definitely look into this option!

I will look at Peggy and Pamela's answers as I think that will really help.

You all have been a great help. Thank you all so much!

You can select the order you wish them to show in your gallery by viewing all your images in your profile images tab and setting their position with that button.

Concur with Rose.

Here is my posting from above:

"For example, on your artwork page you can re-organise the display, and you can do the same within each particular gallery. Other than that, there are no additional options that I am aware of. I'm sorry."

Apologies if I did not clarify the verbiage properly, Patricia.

Under each image is a number. Use the numbers to move the images.

If people search using the search then, as said, people see search results but, if people go to your profile they see your results

Yes Abbie but if someone uses the search "artist" function the only way they can be delivered to a particular profile is to bring up the all art page and click on the itsy bitsy teeny weenie picture that is our avatar :-) if they take the time to. Other wise one has to search artist name/faa/profiles, how many people will do that?

Correction - first they have to select an image and then click on our name (on that page) under the itsy bitsy teeny weenie picture :-)
