Website Selling Images Illegally...

Unfortunately, I found one of my images on this website http://rosehome.ro/sectiune/toate-produsele/living-romantic/tablouri-si-canvas/ and wanted to alert fellow FAA members. The only place I have my stolen image posted is here on FAA, so it's very discouraging. It's one thing to see your images on a blog, but to see someone selling our work.... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Might be time to start implementing FAA's watermark, if I am to continue selling here.

Send them a DMCA notice. They will most likely take it down. There is little else you can do really. Watermarking may reduce the temptation for your images to be grabbed. That may also have an impact on sales. When you offer an image you want people to fall in love with it at first site and a watermark gets in the way of that. I have had an imge used by a site in Bulgaria. It was public information site that accepted ads. No biggie. They took it down when I asked. I keep my watermark on because the chances of losing revenue with it on are greater than the chances of losing revenue with it off. I try and look at the illegal uses as free advertising for the full size image which can be found by Google Reverse Image.

It doesn't matter what website you are posting on. They find the image on Google Images not by going to the actual sites.

Personally, I have offered they provide attribution before take down. ...... it usually works out better and they come back and do it right the second time.

Thomas. That is useful information, but do you really think there is a BBB in Bucharest, Romania?

Thanks for all the info, guys. Just wanted to share, in case other FAA members had images on that website. Some of the images looked familiar. I sent the woman a notice, so we'll see what happens.

Hello Bradford Martin,

No I do not think they have that type of office out there.
I do think it's just a boiler plate form that needs to be adjusted for each occurrence.
